Yes I do mean IN the ground, not in an underground cave.
I took a Level 1 party up to the north to mess about with the Ankhegs and of course I was getting killed all the time. But what I did notice is that they are still vulnerable while in the soil. On one occasion I cast Grease on a Ankheg, which really got it annoyed, and the I gave it a burst of Colour Spray which made it go unconscious while out of sight. All the time Imoen was firing arrows into the ground until it died. Arrows and magic that penetrate the soil - nice. Anyone know what rules apply when fighting burrowing creatures?

I did the same thing when I started my 2nd party. The fields can get you from lvl 1 to lvl 3-4 very fast

I always stayed away from them. My party always died.

Spoiler!
~ ~ ~ ~ I really like the Doomsayer (dunno if that's his name, but it is the (undead?) dude who comes after you when you help at the archeological digsite) He's worth 4000 XP! A hell of a lot if you ask me. Given, he IS hard to defeat, if you don't know how...

Do you think about the 'mass destruction' bug with a certain 3rd level mage spell
