LOL!!!
Of course they would be heading off to the Toad Village! Thank heavens for the opportunity to rewrite things! Okay, I'll cut, paste, find and replace all as necessary and slap this baby into the thread. And yes, Nano - your elf is OLD!!! (but that's fine for an elf!) Wyv |

Say "Hello" to Nanobyte! A new character-to be is born!
Little history info, and such: Nanobyte Male, Elf Shorter than the average man, but built the same Long blond hair (something like Link from the Zelda series) Rogue-Ninja-Assassin-Ranger ( Commonly known as "The Fable of the Forest" Nanobyte is fairly new to the ale-man's ear, but has been a legend for some time. He started out as any ordinary Rogue. Breaking into houses, stealing the loot. Or the occasional day of "borrowing" from the rich. All that changed the day he tried to steal from a Grand High-Mage. He was sent to "the Cells". There he rotted away for a good portion of his life (approx. 225). But not all was lost. During his years in "the Cells", he was taught the art of the Ninja. How to crack a man's skull with the side of your hand. Or break a man's jaw with the "Swift-eye" kick. His teacher through all this is unknown. As he progressed in his Ninja state, "the Cells" could no longer "contain" him. He escaped that hell-hole in a few years after his completion of becoming a Ninja. He roamed the lands of the Gael Serran, in search for new adventure. He found adventure. Seeking out the mystic dragon Erasthmador, and "defanging" him. Or putting him out of his mythical misery. His hands were no match for the dragon's scales, and his "Swift-eye kick" could only tickle the dragon. Townspeople of Valeia say they next time they saw him, he was washed ashore, the closest portion of Nymph lake near the town. He was taken in by the town's priest. A few years of recovery were all he needed. But he never fully achieved his recovery. His caretaker was murdered in the wee hours of the night, when the whole town was asleep. The Serpent Cult had struck again. After he got to as close of a recovery as he would get, he took up the role of an Assassin. Knowing no kick-and-punch techniques would ever work on the Serpent Naga, he thought of the next best thing. A swift kill. Because the Elven kind are known to be quick learners, Nanobyte learned the Assassin's technique's rather quickly. He avenged his dead caretaker, and ended the life of the Serpent Naga (as well as every member of the Serpent Cult). A hundred years past, seeing no future in the life of an Assassin, Nanobyte changed his role for the final time. What all Elves are known for. Marksmanship. He got his nickname, the Fable of the Forest, because he is one of the best Rangers in the history of the Gael Serran (around Lily's god-like powers). He can use the bow like he uses his hands to wash his face. Another uncommonly used name for him is the "Sniper". He could have his bow up, the arrow out, and the target down before you could blink an eye. Although most of his life was complicated, it would seem he was "born" for the bow. After his claim of being a "Forest legend", he was scarcely heard from again. Know he returns, to end the reign of the Evil Pharoah Lord Cet. OK, I may not be that good with storyline's, but I would appreciate it if one of the "good" writers fixed this up a bit. Keeping the whole story in mind, just making it sound better . |

How though? I can't just say, oh here's Nanobyte and he is the Fable of the Forest. Shouldn't there be a time when they come to seek him out or something? Besides, I thought there were multiple characters that were "trying-out" to be added to the storyline. I could add it, but it would sound nothing like this.

Try-outs are over, Nanobyte. You'll have to prove your valor on the road.. they're headed for Toad Village as we speak!
A suggestion: not all your character's sterling qualities need to be stated immediately or overtly when you meet up with the party. Let your actions reveal your worth to the band, as the story unfolds. Tales of valor are better regaled in the tavern, not on a quest march. There's big doings afoot, oh Rogue-Ninja-Assassin-Ranger! Our heros have to stay on the move!! |

I'll have to check where the actual story line is right now, but how about something like this, Nano ->
Nanobyte rested awhile against the aged oak tree on his return journey to Valiea. He had felt drawn back to the small village, to the place where a kindly priest had once taken him in and tended his wounds and turned his path from rouge and assassin to that of ranger. Bittersweet memories. The priest was dead and his absence in the small village would be - painful - but something had drawn him back. As he tried to understand this, Nano witnessed a party of adventurers heading towards the old graveyard. A odd mixture of adventurers, he thought to himself, mostly young and untried. As he watched them pass, his desire to return to Valiea was replaced by burning curiousity of the nature and purpose of this group. He followed, quietly and undetected behind. Perhaps I return here to be of some service to them. There are many dangers in the crypt which so inexperienced a group may not be prepared to handle. The thought of following the group and aiding in their protection felt right to Nanobyte. He will protect them from a distance for now and reveal himself to the group when his long years of hardship and experience told him it was time. Knocking an arrow to his bow, Nanobyte followed. So - what do you think???? The great history you have worked out for your character and the really kewl name "Fable of the Forest" are elements that can gradually be worked into the story when appropriate. Wyv |
