Changing characters midway through game

OK, I've heard people talking about changing their useless/boring characters partway through a game, and I'm trying to get rid of my druid. But I'm having a rather large ammount of difficulty doing it. So i have some questions:

Do I need to be playing a multi-player game to do it?
Can anyone walk me through changing a character?

Never mind, found out by accident. Trying to pause, hit the 'c' key [img]tongue.gif[/img]
