Ring of Free Action v Boots of Speed

Hi Guys. I have been using these two items quite a lot in my solo game and the results are not always predictable. When I wear the two of them together (which is quite often due to lack of inventory space) then I expect the Boots of Speed to be nullified by the Ring of Free Action, but this is not always so. If I juggle them around I can get both to work at the same time. Is this a known bug because sometimes it's quite useful?

Yep, it's a known bug: Putting on the Boots, then the Ring will grant you both benefits. But the Ring's description clearly states it's supposed to nullify the Boots, so taking advantage of the bug is quintessential cheese.

Ok Six, so you caught me nibbling on a small piece of cheese. Like I said, with no space in the inventory of a solo character I can't afford to take the Boots off and I don't want to get caught in a 'Hold' situation, since this is bad news for a solo player. Anyway that's my excuse. I noticed that when both items work together then this condition does not last - the bug appears to be cancelled when moving to a new area or by going to sleep (at least I think so). An even bigger slice of cheese is to install the X-cap remover, which I felt inclined to do before attempting Durlags Tower with my solo Fighter/Mage. Playing solo can be bad for your diet!
