Problem with Poquelin

So, I collect all six badges, click them into place, cast a bunch of spells, drink some potions, and ascend the stairs. I talk to Poquelin, who, like all villians, gives away his plan before a fight. Then, I attack. I inflict a small amount of damage when the game goes to a cut scence, explains that the town is encased in ice, and I am transported to tht town. At the town, however, the game stays paused--forever! What is going on?

This is a known bug. Some people have managed to get around it by re-doing the fight. I think I saw one post that talked about having success eventually by not using any magic in the fight, including pre-fight magical enhancements. Of course, this could be a coincidence, but it also might be that the game is having trouble resolving magical effects left over from the fight.

I was finally able to get through. Removing the pre-fight magical enhancements was not enough; the game still froze. So, I remove the pre-fight enhancements and item enhancements, such as my ring of Free Motion and the mage robe that provides fire resistance, and then the game did not freeze. I sure took a beating though before the cut scene kicked in.

Damn bugs.
