jaheira romance (possible spoilers)

I thought my romance with Jaheira was going fine, but I think I may have run into a problem. From what I've heard, Jaheira is supposed to get a pin from a certain someone near the end of SoA. Well, I've finished SoA and have finished Watcher's Keep as well as a few quests in Tob. I tried sleeping outside several times during SoA, but nothing happened. This person showed up once and gave me a letter from Jaheira when she disappeared, but I never saw him again. Is it too late now to get the pin? Have I screwed the romance? I just had one scene where the ghost of Khalid shows up and tells Jaheira she's betrayed him, but there really hasn't been any other romance in ToB. Can anyone help?

Now, it's been along time since I did the Jaheria romance but IIRC the mysterious man only appears and gives Jaheria the pin in SOA. So he won't appear in TOB.

The appearance of this man is I believe on a real time timer NOT how many days the party have been adventuring so resting lots won't work. The timer is set along time in the future, infact in all my games I've never stayed in SOA long enough to get the pin.

Also, I was under the impression even if the romance isn't finished but has progressed resonably far it continues in TOB. You probably should have had a love talk by now so there may be a problem.
