I have gotten through the first two battles but I can't get over the hump of the 3rd battle, let alone the last.

What's frustrating is that the last time I took Melissan on in the 3rd battle, I was getting my fighters to her (Sarevok and Mazzy) and getting shots in but I wasn't doing much damage. And BTW, I was also able to remove her spell protections for the most part so I'm not sure if that is the problem (though it maybe). Problem is, in all the confusion of battle its hard for me to tell who is doing damage.

My question for now is this: what weapons do damage to Melissan? I have Mazzy using the short sword of the Mask +5. I forget the name of Sarevok's sword, but it is +4 (+6 against undead and planar creatures). Also, what missile weapons work? I have had Mazzy use the +4 arrows of piercing against Melissan but to know effect. And none of my sling weapons have done anything either. I think Jan did some damage with the crossbow that automatically fires firebolts.

I may need a lot more help than this in the near future, but if you can help me with these questions, that would be great.

Handy Hint for these forums. you may want to put Spoiler in the title or change the title as people come here who havn't gotten up to that battle.

As for your question Im not to sure but im sure one of the experts will be along shortly.

Another Handy Hint... If you click on the 'edit/delete' button at the top of your first post, you can edit the title... And should, in a case like this.

I'll answer your questions after you edit the title of the thread. (A very good policy, that! )

Amelysan the Blackhearted has something like 75% resistance to all elemental damage and 50% resistance to all physical damage (Shame on me for not having the exact numbers), which cannot be lowered. She should be naturally immune to Normal and +1 weapons, but that shouldn't be a problem, since there's plenty of +2 and +3 ammo flying around.

Since her Elemental resistances are so high, trying to damage her that way is pretty futile--it's good for disrupting her spells, but nothing more. You'll have to kill her by brute force, which will be a pain considering how many protections she's got shielding her Protection from Magic Weapons.

The key is to ignore her Summons (no matter how distracting they might be) and concentrate on Amelysan herself. Use your own best Summons (Planetars, Mordy's Swords) to keep those damn Slayer Shadows off your backs.

You are almost certainly going to NEED a certain 9th-level spell to beat Amelysan. You mention Sarevok, Mazzy, and Jan--what class are you playing and whom else do you have?

Ah.. you have Jan. You do know that you can use the 9th level spell 'Wish' to restore all his traps?

Thanks for the help. I finally finished the game! Actually I just did the same thing I was doing before. Both Mazzy and Sarevok were able to get their damage in. Its still a mystery to me why I couldn't do as much damage before. Maybe I was just having really bad luck the times before.

One thing I did concentrate on was timing the casting of the spell removals to right when Sarevok and/or Mazzy got to her and started swinging. Perhaps that helped.

(Spoiler ahead)

The last battle was actually ridiculously easy compared to the third battle. Its kind of humorous but I actually planned my entire evening to just getting by the fallen solaris and the last battle. I assumed the last battle would be that much harder. But I did it on my first try. All in about 10 minutes.
