I had both SOA and TOB on my computer before, then removed them to make room for other programs. I went and reinstalled SOA without problem. I keep trying to install Tob and always get the same error message "disk 0 with file data6.cab"
Anyone who can help me, please reply here or email me @ Tom12387@aol.com Thanks.

Make sure there are no residue files after you uninstall the program. After uninstallation, manually delete any leftover files and/or folders. Once all trace has been deleted, reinstall.

Thanks for the reply, but it still doesn't work. I deleted everything in the Black Isle folder, including SOA and still can't get the install to go all the way through without giving me crud. Are there other files outside the Black Isle folder that i should look for and delete? (i put everything in the prompted directories in case that factors.)
Thanks again

ok, i took your suggesstion and copied TOB's contents to the C drive, and it still asked for data6.cab. does this mean that i have to buy another CD, or what?
Thanks again, you guys are quite resourceful!!

start->run->regedit
Search for and remove all occurences of baldurs gate, interplay and bioware. Make a backup first, because if you delete the wrong thing in there you can kill your machine.

OK, this is really ticking me off. I tried editing REGEDIT and then reinstalling TOB: that didn't work.
I tried copying TOB to the C drive and running it from there. Also didn't work. I'll ask again: Is there anything else i can/ should do in order to get this installed? Thanks.

Your last resort will be to go back to the shop and see whether they can install it. If it fails to do so, then the CD is corrupted, and you can get them to repair it for you( if possible).
Don't forget to bring along the receipt. If a repair is not possible, mail the CDs to BlackIsle( instructions in the manual and readme) and get a replacement. You need to pay a replacement fee for this. [ 06-09-2003, 01:56 AM: Message edited by: Dundee Slaytern ] |
