Does the unimproved Demogorgon begin the fight with a time-stop ?
'Cause I was pretty sure I installed it again (reinstalled SoA/ToB ), but this time he didnt have a time-stop and fell after about 4 seconds ... Im guessing I forgot to install after all ? [ 01-21-2003, 12:05 PM: Message edited by: daan ]

The original Demogogon beat me like a rented mule half a dozen times befor I finally took him down, why would you want him to be better? It makes me shudder.
Mind you I was playing on hard if the makes any difference.Damn those 6 armed demon freaks!

I had similar success with the Improved Demagorgon - after about 6 re-loads. I'm playing a Wizard Slayer dualed to a thief (24/26). So he and Jan had set as many Spike Traps as the game would allow. Sometimes they did good damage...sometimes they didn't. Finally, all the traps went off and did excellent damage (Jan's trap did 87pts by itself - my three did around 70-75 each). As soon as the Time Stop ended, the traps went off and Demagorgon was NEAR DEATH before the fight ever really began. One round of attacks from my Wizard Slayer and Minsc took him down for good. After that, the Marileth's weren't very difficult at all.

Talk about cheese, Cerek.. I did it the same way though, after seeing the decaying hand twenty times over.

I consider cheese to be stuff along the lines of setting traps in full view of the enemy (as with Firkraag). It's also cheesy to use tactics like casting Feeblemind to disable an enemy so that they stand perfectly still while the whole party pounds on them. And I used BOTH of these tactics to full extent with Firkraag. But now that I've installed the Weimer Tactics Mod, such cheese does not work. For instance, I tried to set a trap in front of the dragon on the 3rd level of Watchers Keep. He would have none of that! He went Hostile and attacked immediately (as any intelligent dragon should). All of a sudden, my group was "knee deep" in trouble because I hadn't cast all of my "buff up" spells yet. I had to attack him on the fly. Took a good beating (and watched Jan die for the umpteenth time), but managed to beat him without losing anybody else. Still, I had to use all of my healing spells, rest, and cast some more before I was ready to move on after that fight. (oh yeah, had to burn yet another charge of the Rod of Resurrection for Jan). So, I don't really consider the traps against Demagorgon cheesy. I just got very lucky on my damage rolls and knocked him down low enough to FINALLY beat him in hand-to-han..uh...tentacle combat. ![]() [ 02-03-2003, 09:50 AM: Message edited by: Cerek the Barbaric ]

But why use the RoR when you can easily use the spell itself.. Of course, I can understand that you won't lose the Rod that way, but why don't you?

That's one of the disadvantages of playing a druid. No Resurrection and No Turning Undead. Of course, her elemental powers help make up for that. ![]()

true, druids don't get resurrection, but jaheira has a nice spell called "harpers call", that resurrects a character to life.
now a spell i would like to see is reincarnation. |
