A followup to the ethics question

I have decided that because my hard drive crashed and I lost all of my character party information I am going to cheat to get all the stuff I earned in BG SoA back to play in ToB.

I downloaded all the cheat codes.

Now, how to get the computer to use/accept those codes is the question.

In BGI, there was a Baulder ini. file in the directory, and that was where you installed the cheat code. I have not been able to find this file on my harddrive for SoA/ToB (having already re-installed BG SoA and ToB).

How do I go about this cheating business? Where do I find the file to put the cheat code? What is the cheat code? (I am not talking about the codes you need for the items) Where in the file do I put the cheat code. After the cheat code is inserted, and I am in the game, how do I create those items using the downloaded cheat codes for all the items? Do any lines at all need to be inserted into a file, or do you just have to hit (for example) Ctrl+TAB to bring up the CLUA Console and put the items code there?

Please remember, I am a computer dummy here. I will need step by step and exact instructions.

Cheats built into the Game
First thing you will need to do is open up the file baldur.ini. its in the directory where you installed your Baldurs Gate 2 game. Once you find the file, open it up and you'll see a header called "[Program Options]", below it, add the following line:

Debug Mode=1

That command will now allow the game's cheating options to be opened.
Next, run the game, and load up a game, now to activate a cheat, hit [CTRL+SPACE].

Once you open up the command line to which you can type commands, here are a few you can type in:


Increase the level of you Party members:
CLUAConsole:SetCurrentXP("Enter Number Here")
(If you wish to max all characters out, select them all, and enter a crazy number like 90000000 or something.



Increase Gold (So you can buy that +90 Sword of Death):
CLUAConsole:AddGold("Insert Gold Amount Here")
If you want to do this so you'll have enough for the entire game, and have lots left over for BG3 , enter another crazy number like 999999999 or something.



The following cheat allows you to Create Items. See List Here
CLUAConsole:CreateItem("Insert Item number here")
This is a cool cheat, if you're into the cheats. Creating some of the best items can really change the balance of the game FAST. Also, Tomes are in BG2 as well.

You can also create more than 1 of something, like say you wanted 900 arrows, this is how you would type it: (You can do this with potions, scrolls, arrows, bullets, and other stuff as well).

CLUAConsole:CreateItem("ARROW03",900)

You need to go into the Black isle folder and then into the SOA folder it will be the icon that says Baldur looks like a note pad with a gold star thing in the right hand corner.

Can honestly say I did not cheat somthing out I did not have previously. Didn't cheat out any scroll spells either since I didn't remember which ones I had.

The Crom Freyr looked tempting as I didn't acquire it in BG II, but I passed it up. Nice to have Celestial Fury back though.

Cheated up to 3000000xp. I couldn't remember exactly how much xp each player had, but I do remember maxing out in BG II, so I figured that was close enough.
