You can have it with any character who is LG that is Keldorn ,Sir Anomen,Aerie.
The problem is that it can only be used by paladins or high level rogues...hehehe

The purifier isn't as good as the Carsomyr (even when upgraded)

I agree but to upgrade the purifier is better than upgrading the carsomyr IF you need both of them.
You can also gain the shield benefits. Depends on the person actually.
