Transition to ToSC?

I bought the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion a little while ago and I was wondering how the transition between BG and ToSC works. When should I start on the ToSC areas? I noticed that Durlag's Tower is on the map but Urgoth's Beard is not... How do I get to Urgoth's Beard? What level should my party be before I attempt Durlag's Tower?

All TOTSC does is add a few new areas: Durlag's Tower, Ulgoth's Beard, Werewolf Island, and another (nameless) island. These areas are accessible anytime throughout the game. To get to Ulgoth's Beard, I think all you need to do is travel north far enough until the area on your map turns blue. But I'm not really sure on this. I usually head for Ulgoth's Beard at around 6th level - Durlag's Tower I tackle when I'm 7th. These areas are pretty tough and certainly not to be underestimated. But they are treasure troves of experience - one can gain roughly another 40,000xp (in a party of six) by adventuring through these areas. Good luck

Try leaving the Baldur's Gate bridge map from the upper righthand corner or right side for Ulgoth's Beard.

Okay thanks. I haven't been that far North yet to see Ulgoth's Beard on the map. I always start South and work my way up clearing all the areas in lawn mower fashion [img]smile.gif[/img]
