Just a quick question regarding weapons.

I have both the Flail of Ages, and The Equaliser. My Paladin is equally proficient in each, but, the weapon description for the Equaliser is very vague.

It mentions no dice rolls,so I don't know what its base damage is so I don't really understand how it works. Could someone please explain it, or basically tell me which is better out of the Flail and the Equaliser?

Description Here

Base damage is D8, like a regular (unenchanted) long sword. Base to hit is +0, though it always strikes as a +3 weapon for purposes of weapon immunities. To hit and damage bonuses are added to the above base as described in the item description. For LOTS more detail, check out these old posts:

It turns out that if you dual-wield, the Equalizer bonus is granted to attacks made using either hand, which is a very nice little side-effect.

That being said, the Flail of Ages is fantastic: its varied elemental damage makes it useful against almost anything, and its slow target on hit (with no save!) ability is easily one of the best "on hit" weapon abilities in the game. Most people would pick the Flail of Ages over the Equalizer without even thinking about it. But read the linked posts for more detail on why the Equalizer may still be worthwhile. Also, don't forget the Equalizer grants immunity to charm/confusion if you're having trouble with those types of effects.

That is because the EFF files attached to the sword, or any weapon for that matter, apply to the character and not the weapon itself. Any weapon with an EFF file should work this same way...but I haven't tested this myself.
