Before one particularily tough fight in TOSC, I let the party take a hefty swig of the ole' Potion of Free Action. Nonetheless, half the party members get Paralysed and then killed in an orderly fashion - again and again.

However, and this is interesting, never the guy wearing the RING of Free Action. That one works. So it seems the Potion is non-functional.

As far as I can remember that potion has always worked when I've used it. What battle was it?

It's the fight against the demon in the basement of the cultist house in Ulgoth's Beard.

The potion is only temporary protection, while the ring is permanent. I can't remember how long the effect lasts, but it's always worked for me.

I'm not sure but he or one of his minions might be able the cast dispel magic. That could also be the case why the potion doesn't work.

I believe Aec'Letec DOES Dispel you as soon as he appears. Also, his Paralyze/Hold thing also turns you into a Ghast, so would Free action protect you from both effects, or just being Held? Probably the latter, I think...

i know this battle well,,,,,the demon knight at the bottom of durlags tower yes?
i tried similar tactics but the power word stun he casts seems to still stun u even with free action
Try a prot from magic on your main fighter and let rip with arrows plus 2
I could not win this battle without losing at least 1 or 2 members]
the greenstone am may help try to position your members at even spacing so his spell doesnt hit all members.......
good luck

Buy all four Potions of Mirrored Eyes at the inn in Ulgoth's and give them to the party members most likely to get the whammy put on them. That should take care of both the Death Gaze and the Hold spell.
