Hey, I'm new here!

Ok, easy, you are probably fed up of newcomers and their their greeting topics, but I just could not resist...

Im currently playing under a solo thief/mage dual class (lvl10/36, and it is SOA, not TOB!) and I like to think I know almost everything about bg2 - soa, so, anything, just ask...

Well I registered only to ask how to open the 'secret level' in bg2 (Shangalar's Twisted Rune) but I found out before I was allowed to post messages, so if you don't know how and you want to, just ask

and ah... I've only a couple of questions!

The really sad thing about being a solo wizard is that you stop getting spells at lvl20 (I lvled 16 levels without getting a single extra spell! only in the hopes of making my simulacrum stronger!)... so, don't any of you guys know of a patch that can correct that, if there is one? Well it should be! I could be twice as strong as I already am...

And, does Magic Resistance affect imprisionment (or maze)? Or anything? (besides spell immunity)If you know of something, please let me know... Damn nothing affects that... you can't deflect, and, being solo, even a maze kills me instantly, and that sux, for that is the only real thing that can kill me... I've killed all the three dragons alone with ease, but any mage able to cast a maze can actually take me down..

WELCOME TO IW!

Now if you think that you know everything try that quiz on the top of this page and *then* tell me if you know everything.
Then giving spoilers away about Twisted Rune is not a way to gain reputation.
Magic Resistance ignores Imprisonment. Maze can be affected by Spell Immunity:Conjuration,Summoning.

ADD]if you want to have higher levels download XP CAP remover.

Well whatever...

Well I'm lvl36, (46 to tell the truth) so that means I already have the cap... I'm after something that would allow mages to get more spells after lvl20

and about getting reputaion, I really don't care

and ah... you mean imprisionment ignores magic resistance?
and I sad anything besides spell immunity but I guess there is nothing else

Well I'm gonna try... I just don't use any spell protection, Grenstone Amulet and Cloack of Spell Turning usually makes enought protections for me...

And yeah, enrage is great, my first char was a berserker... pretty cool, best fighter, no doubt

WELCOME!
When I came here first I also thought that I pretty much knew everything.
Now, that I've learned a lot and know a lot more I frequently find out that I know nothing
As for Imprisonment: There was a post about a special imprisonment of tactics MOD and I (not having tactics) tested protections for impris back then
for some reason I can't dig up the post, but the results were:
Imprisonment is NOT stopped by
 • Magic or any other resistance
 • any saving throw
There are however some buffs that protect from Imprisonment. These are (Berserker Rage aside):
Arcane
 • Spell Trap
 • Mass Invisibility
 • Spell Turning
 • Spell Deflection
 • Spell Immunity: Abjuration
 • Improved Invisibility
 • Invisibilty 15' Radius
 • Invisibility
Divine
 • Shield of the Archons
 • Pixie Dust
 • Sanctuary
The invisibilities of course protect only because invisible creatures can't be targeted by spells

EDIT: found the thread it's here

Question Mark

I hate to break it to you, but while your sig is pretty sweet it's definitely too large.
excerpt from the Rules and Regulations:

Quote:

Be Sig Smart:

The larger your image in your sig, the longer it takes for others to load it. Don't forget, MANY people still use dial-up internet, and huge images take a LONG time to download.
We allow the following as per signatures:

We allow up to 2 Images in your sig. But, we
prefer you use 1 or combine the 2 into one image. If you use 1 image in your signature, you are allowed the image resolution to be 225x155, and no more than 150Kb in size. This NEW Size will take effect on January 27th 2002. Anyone before that time will still be allowed to keep their slightly larger sig.If you wish to use 2 images, both images must be no larger than 280x220 combined in resolution, and 150Kb in size as well. Your text sig or 'tagline' must not exceed 300 characters as well.
