I liked more BG1... I hated all that time you loose searching for Imoen in BG2.
What do you think about it?

They both have their moments. Also the hunt for Imoen is somewhat integral to the BG2 storyline.

The SoA storyline keeps you going while BG1 makes you linger around a lot. It also gives you a reason (fundraising) for the sidequest.
What's great about BG1 is starting from scratch (i.e. lvl1) but I like the SoA solution (contrary to other RPG sequels you do retain your status from part 1). I also like starting out in the big city instead of moving on to the city and the enemies are way cooler. I think the XP range in SoA is just perfect. BG1 is a little low for my liking and ToB is definitely too high.

as far as the storyline goes i think BG1 was better. it was a lot more in depth. but as for overall gaming i like BG2 better. i like the character interaction as well as running into old BG1 characters.

BG - greater story, better atmosphere, far more immersive.
BGII - far superior graphics, less buggy, more options, better gameplay. So, when it's about 'just playing' , play BGII If it's about 'exploring a world', play BGI Also, I think BGI is balanced way better... I get too powerful way too early even WITH Tactics...

they do both have their moments. BG1 isnt that long, I took 53 days to do all of the game including basically every quest and now moving on to TotSC (playing bgt) I think if you have bg1 u gotta have TotSC. BG2 is good aswell and i think its probably as good as the first one. If you want a game for starting of low levels and getting pretty high then try IWD2. You start level 1 like in IWD1 but you can get pretty high. I suppose that does go for the first one to an extent aswell. But hey I'm getting a bit off topic here.

I liked BG1 for the sheer magnitude of the exploreable areas. The fact that you can start the game as a mage with four hitpoints is sweet. It makes you take care of yourself a lot more. You'd actually have to run away from wolves and kobolds etc. and it provides an opportuntiy to roleplay as your character learns and grows. SoA of course, has more quests, more dialogues, and the actual gameplay, graphics, etc. is much improved....but i'm still a sucker for the original.
