It all depends on your style of play.

I agree that the beserker is an excellent kit though although it does depend on your style of play. But as Dundee said most kits are useful if your style of play suits them the only bad kit is probably the beastmaster though even that could be effective if played correctly. But yes berserkers are excellent the beserker rage immunites are excellent and the only drawback is not using ranged weapons which a fighter doesn't really use so all in all a good kit.

Don't like the beserker much, myself...I prefer the archer.

Jim has successfully soloed a Beastmaster through SoA/ToB on Insane Difficulty. Never has the Staff of the Ram +6 been so lovable.

Beastmasters can only use clubs and staves for melee weapons right?

Edit: What about armor?

Think White Dragon Scale Armour.

Too true i'm afraid, this is the most damaging weapon in the game so the weapon drawbacks for the beastmaster become negligible in the later stages. Armour wise, armour of the deep night +4 and the shadow dragon scale combinded with the staff of rhynn +4 and strongarm +3 makes SoA a breeze, and as Dundee correctly says, the white dragon armour can be used by most classes except mages, which will give the beastmaster a rock bottom AC. Combine all this with the animal summoning spells (average) but most importantly, with the find familiar spell which they possess as an inate ability causing the beastmaster to have the highest HP of any character except the barbarian! I don't think they suck too much!
