Why does elminister look so weak, sure he is old
but is he still powerful. I thought he was really
powerful?

Well if you though that was weak you should see the god of evil Cyric in Thone of Bhaal. He just look like an ordinary bloke.
It's not about looking powerful!

Well, there are no occasions where you can fight him anyway, or you'll have to do some serious screw-ups to your game (or cheat) to do so. So I wouldn't worry about it too much.

There are hundreds of books on the Forgoten Realms, a lot of them about Elminsters adventures. He is practicly a demigod. If you go to the "show all topics", section of this site, someone found out what his stats and info' were. There is a ton of info' on this part of the site about the game. I learned most of what I needed to know from it. If you really like the game, you will enjoy taking the time to read it all.

zepher, take an old man's point of view. Elminster is one of those guys that is up there with Nystul, Mordenkainen, Otiluke and Bigby. You don't mess with these boys. Spells? Some of the spells that we (the player) use were something that they invented because breakfast was late.

If you want to get involved - try an undertaker.

No offense intended, but these are the (original) bad boys of spell rock-and-roll.

Yep, running around trying to kill the Big Names is a surprisingly quick way of finding out who is invincible--and who ain't. For instance, in Candlekeep, both Tethtoril and Gorion are invincible, but for some reason Ulraunt, Tethtoril's direct superior, is not. I tried to kill Elminster once, but nothing I had did any damage on him. Someone once claimed to have killed him, but they needed to turn him into a squirrel first.....assuming the big E has 99% Magic Resistance, that means with 5 fully charged Wands of Polymorphing....you've got a 50/50 chance. Hoo Hah!

Of course Elminster is powerful--he has a pointy hat! See? POINTY HAT!!!

If you kill Elminster in the forest Little Dragon, and there's no one around to hear - will he still make some nasty deathy/falling over/expiration noises?
