Successful Gaxx story or how I defeated him (spoilers)

My fight with Gaxx was not so glorious as I'm reading in the forum. His lich form was nothing --> timestop - spell trigger with 3 pierce magic in it - 2 Comets - Keldorn hitting him with +5 sword ,Minsc attacking with the Equalizer, Imoen with the Gesen bow and ... we are with the demi-lich.
The first time I was imprisoned . The second time something interesting happens. After inprisoning my entire party we were left alone - me 18 lvl sorcerer and the demi-lich. And the impossible happened (I can not explain it, but when I tried again it won't work) - he was trying to inprison me - but nothing happens. My protections:
Magic resistance (high)
Negative plane protection
Vocalize
Resist Fire/Cold
Non - detectable
Protection from Evil
Protection from magic
Spell Deflection
Protection from energy
As you know I'm wearing Staff of Magi (long live the rune ones - brrr), Cloak of non-detection, ...
I'm playing SoA with official patch with ToB installed and also official patched.
Well you know - he is immune to spellcraft - so I cast freedom and he continued to trying to inprison me, but everybody returned (blue circles) and Keldorn continues to attack him until lich's deth.

Three facts:

** The demi-lich does not attack people with blue circles **
** The only oppose of inprisonment is freedom **
** The demi-lich attacks nearest enemy first **

After this I saved my game and tried to kill him without everybody get inprisoned, but - nope. So I'm wondering if the battle with him is some kind of party loyality test? After his death I has to talk with everybody so they return to my party.

Two tings at the end I'm wondering about:
1.Can he be inprisoned and if its possible what about the ring
2.If I'm 'providing' him someone in resilient sphere - can the demi-lich inprison him - inprisonment have no saving throw. When I reached lvl 18 I choose Time Stop and I haven't found inprisonment scroll yet.

Now I'm in Watchers keep (Elemental floor) - this place is creepy, but very nice stuff there. I've readed something about Magic Golem and I don't want to meet one [img]smile.gif[/img]

Merlin casts Absolute Immunity on the party!

Weeeyooo! Kangaxx threads everywhere .

Kangaxx is immume to level 1 - 9 spells, so Improsinment will not be a option (it's a level 9 spells so..)

Kangaxx is a little whimp without Tactics (to much cheesyniss for this guy).
Try Imp. Kangaxx and his Guardians with Tactics... that's what I call a ''real'' battle.

About those magic golems... plain rusty non-enchanted weapons will do just fine .

yeah. Gaxx is challenge - high class may I say - Irenicus may only stay silent in Gaxx presence. Before even downloading mod, may I ask what is it that I'll face if I install this Tatctics mod ? Everybody in my party gets to their special ability level. Only immune to spellcraft survive for load game.
A company Like Gaxx+Irenicus+Magic Golems+ Mind Flayers+ 'High end' priests+ runic company with Elder orb instead beholder can not be faced.

About Fact 2: You mean that the only way to counteract Imprisonment is Freedom. There are many ways (at least 9) to protect yourself from Imprisonment, but most of those can only block 1 or 2 castings at most--and since Kangaxx never runs out of Imprisonments, you have to find a way of gaining flat-out Immunity to Imprisonment.

About Fact 3: Yep. Feel free to abuse this knowledge of Kangaxx's poor AI by just making 1 party member immune to Imprisonment, and make them your Tank, while everyone else pounds away with +4 enchanted ranged weapons from a safe distance.

Note: Demi-Liches are immune to all spells in Levels 1 through 9. The spells that Wizards learn through High-Level-Abilities, however, are Level 10.

A question about Imprisonment/Freedom: If a party member gets imprisoned and a freedom spell lets them loose, is this the same sort of recall as Stone to Flesh where you have to ask the party member back into your party? This could seriously complicate a romance...

I think so. They come out with blue circles around them so it's probably true.

It's true. You have to re-recruit them into your party, and any Romance you had is shot all to hell. Also, Merlin from Amber lost out on the EXP for killing Kangaxx, since the person who applied the killing blow (Keldorn) was not in the party at the time.

As for why Kangaxx failed to Imprison your Sorcerer, I noticed you said you had Protection from Magic. If you mean the green scroll of Protection from Magic, there's your answer right there. It cannot be though, since you have other protection spells which should be nullified by the Protection from Magic scroll.

Other possible reasons include the Spell Trap from the Staff of Magi, although that is a temporary measure. Spell Immunity:Abjuration is another possibility.
