i am just about to start up an all evil party. i cant decide wether to just create all of my charactors or to get charactors from the game. Any suggestions? also what kinda weapons should i go for? Finally does it really matter about reputation points do they matter in an evil party?

any answers would be apreciated.

Thanks'

I'd suggest going with NPC's - out of all my parties, my Evil party cruised through the game easier than any other.

I went with...

PC Fighter
Khorgan
Viconia
Edwin
Jan
Imoen

Two top-notch Tanks (which you can upgrade when/if you hit Throne of Bhaal), a Cleric, a part-time Thief, & 2.5 artillery specialists. You'll make short work of most anything.

Double-post, 'cause this one is all ***SPOILERS***, even though you probably already know about most of these. Regarding weapons, you may need to justify to yourself a way to eliminate the Slavers for Hendak (my guy was Neutral Evil - but, hey, he despised slavery, having been enslaved himself... um, yeah, that got it done in my mind, at least ) 'cause I'm not sure if Bernard in the Copper Coronet has all the items you'll want before then. In any case, here's what I wound up with...

[note: if you're using MOD's, there's some better options, & definitely better options in Throne of Bhaal, but I'm listing generic SoA]

PC Fighter - Flail of Ages [de'Arnise Hold] & Crom Faeyr [various components, kinda late game, visit Cromwell], Wyvern's Tail [Temple Sewers] is good til then
Khorgan - Stonefire [Bernard in CC] & Frostreaver [de'Arnise Hold]
Viconia - Mauler's Arm [Bernard in CC], but mostly Arla's Dragonbane [Temple Ruins] or Arvoreen's Sling [Underdark]
Edwin - next best available Sling, later Firetooth [Ribald, post-Underdark]
Jan - Light Crossbow of Speed [Bernard in CC]
Imoen - primarily Tuigen Bow [Beastmaster in CC], though also Staff of the Magi [Twisted Rune]

Most of these are easy to obtain early on & will serve you well through the whole game.

As far as your Reputation goes, keep it in the 10-14 range. Too high & NPC's will leave. Too low & you'll get attacked by the guards (Evil doesn't mean stupid!). You'll lose 2 by adding Vicky, & you can drop Rep by becoming the Slayer later, so you can do any "good" quests you want (Evil doesn't mea... oh, yeah, already said that ) to get the rewards.

Maybe it's just 'cause the game is geared towards Good parties, but playing Evil is strangely satisfying, even though I still play 3/4 of my games as Good.

EDIT: mismatched brackets [ & parentheses (

As far as reputation goes- you might want to buy all of the more mighty equipment you need before your reputation gets too low. I'll quote you some prices I'm looking at right now

The Night's Gift +5 125,545 g.p.
small sheild +2 36,925 g.p.
full plate mail +1 251,090 g.p.
katana 7,385 g.p.
Yamato +4(TOBsword) 664,650 g.p.

you get the idea. BTW this is with a party's rep at 1(despised) and my main character with the ring of human influence.

Definitely go for the game's NPCs. They are great fun -- especially the Evil ones. As for party composition... Get the Valen Mod ASAP. To put it bluntly, there's no such thing as an evil NPC in a "canon" BG2. They're all... Not Good (alignment-wise, of course). Valen, however, is pure Evil. Get her.

Now, a question... Do you have the Tactics and Item Upgrade Mods installed?

The Darkest Day mod adds plenty of evil NPCs to give you more variety. none of them are going to be as good as standard NPCs, in the way of dialogue etc... but servicable none the less. Valen is certainly a great character, but very buggy.. I gave up on trying to use her after a while as she ends up being too uncontrolable. willfull is one thing, but who is playing the game ?

Buggy? I'm playing with Valen for the second time now, and never noticed any bugs with her. Her "free will" is not a bug -- it's intentional.

Hey, she gotta have some drawbacks, doesn't she? To be fair, she did warn you know that she has strong... instincts. She's a monster, and attacking your enemies at will is part of her animalistic nature. It makes perfect sense to me, at least.

Besides... If you really don't like it / it annoys you / you feel it's out-of-character, you can talk to Valen and ask her to stop doing it.

Ahhh, the luxuries of custom NPCs...

expanding on what Imrahil said... playing evil doesnt mean you have to just kill everyone in sight. think of a james bond baddy... many of them seem outwardly like respectable and even benevolent members of polite society. most of the truely evil people in human history have won the masses first. even chaotic evil alignements can display a controlled facade, while sewing chaos from behind the scenes. and when that blood lust DOES hit you... lure your victims away, out of sight and then tear them to pieces. better yet... many npc's can be killed in plain view without anyone getting too upset... how many can you find ? the truely evil genious can make a person say 'thank you' while cutting his own heart out.
