Nope.

You can't hide in shadows whilst an enemy is visible.

Options are - blind yourself , use potions/items of invisibility, run away hide and return or use imp. invis.

It's possible in certain situations. Have your game's autopause set to activate whenever an enemy is killed. Then, if you're in a room where there are no "red circles" present, you can backstab someone and, if you kill them, you'll be able to hide in shadows before anyone turns hostile. I've used this technique to soften up the group above the Seven Vales in the Promenade.

Blinding the enemy should work, as well: In Brynnlaw, after the Guards in Galvena's Festhall have drunk their Potions, you can go into Stealth whenever you want, even if they're hostile to you. Jan was able to have some real fun with these guys, standing right over them and hacking them into flying chunks of meat. (You still have to be "behind" the victim, however.)

You know, I never thought of that. Might be a reason to carry round blindness scrolls.

Blinding enemy mages is fun too. Remember that you do have to see your target to cast at them. Imagine how dead the mage would be if he had to walk up next to your tank to cast MM at him.
