Ironworks Forum fractured my 'scaphoid' bone in my hand/wrist....have a full arm cast now.

NEVER broke a bone or (as far as I know) even fractured a bone, but here it is.... a first. weee! Very painful in wrist and thumb. I've been posting rarely since two weeks ago (when I got the full cast. from just below my fingers, and my thumb is casted along with my entire arm and up over the elbow. so I may be limited in posting for a few more weeks. I'm going into week three now with the cast. (right handed too).

So its a pain in the ass. Can't do crap, and its driving me nuts. can type, but its slow as hell here... can't draw, can't do much of anything but watch TV (which is also driving me bonkers due to boredom. But I am playing some PS3 games.. (can use the controller a bit.. still hard. have to use a finger for the right thumb button... ugh.

So I may be in this thing for anther 4-6 weeks--I'm thinking 4 weeks. I got shit to do.. finish converting/updating/upgrading the tgeweb ironworks areas and this forum as well. I'm sure those that have had a fractured scaphoid in or some other arm related cast drove you crazy with boredom and frustration, but I am a graphics artist, and my right hand is my 'holy grail'... what allows me to draw.. It's scary.. Because if I can't draw, and work on graphics..... I am done... No point it I can't use my talent.. It's all I really have that keeps me sane during all this chronic pain I have, ya know? If that was taken away... I'd be dangerously depressed.]

But I have to think positive. my wrist WILL heal. they said it was a clean fracture, and no ligaments were ripped. So I am going to keep thinking positive, and pray this heals correctly...

Just means zero income from me a month, and its hurting us financially.. yey! ugh.
I dunno, if anyone wants to help out, donations or whatnot, that would seriously help Donna and I out more than you know. more than you know....

Once this cast is off, I gotta work the muscles because they will be weak they say.. I'll get them in order, and back to normal.. and be back to my work the SECOND I can. I'm dying to get back to this. It's what I love. What I do.

Thanks everyone, and sorry for the delay on the changes coming.

How did you do this? lol.

If I were you dude, I wouldn't play any console games, or exert any pressure on it whatsoever until healed. And I ain't been funny this is your hand. You can't afford to get any complications with it. Even a mild case of carpal tunnel could mean extended healing for you, maybe months.

Watch some series and read some books IMO. Stargate Universe although it was cancelled, is something to catch up on. Same with "V". Supernatural and Smallville are good - not amazing, but good. True Blood is also starting up again soon. Then there's a slew of new books, or re-read some old FR classics. Go walking to get the circulation going which assists healing. But really, stay away from your gamepads and mouse for now. Who knows, you may rediscover some of the things you loved to do. I take breaks from all my technology sometimes just to kinda get back to basics. I mean, it's 3 weeks, not 3 years.

I agree with SW - don't ■■■■ it up Ziroc - the hand will be your partner for life ( even if you're married ).

heheh , yeah...

Running out of series... seen all of SG1 (big fan) watch Atlantis, watched all of SGU (Damn them for cancelling it with no closure), all of smallville... Dexter...

Might try Firefly and that Biker series on TNT on netflix.

Not really into reading right now... but I'm sure I will. I have 5 books to read. So that's good...

Whale Wars is back on... and Ice Road truckers.. Those are ok... and pawn stars.

Yeah I coulnd't believe they cancelled SGU it was awesome. And you could see it was an expensive series. The CGI, props and makeup were all top-notch, apparently 2 million per episode had something to do with it. It seems there is no room for a niche series anymore. In these troubled times, unless they are #1-3 in ratings they get cancelled.

I heard something about a new series from the creators of Lost, but can't recall the name. IIRC it was a fantasy series or something.

Still wearing this bloody cast. cant type much, so that's why I've been away as of late.
GOD it sucks... entire thumb is in a cast too, so playing PS3 like COD:Black ops is hard... using your index finger for the right thumb stick to aim is hard, but lol... I am doing good. actually scoring in the top 3. wee. lol.

Rented that L.A. Noire. beat the main storyline. Really cool. Worth a rent. you gotta use 'real' detective clues and watch the perps behavior to choose your 'truth, doubt, or lie' choices. really interesting....

I'm dying of boredom though.. ugh. They wanna keep it on another 7 WEEKS! WTH... but it will be shorter and less on the thumb, so it might be better.

I'm an artist/graphics designer 3D Modeler, and cannot do any of that.. really gets depressing, but I'm looking towards the 7th week.. then I gotta exercise the wrist and stuff.. squeeze a ball, punch a guy, and do a 360 kick at 3 rocks... (hahahahah)..

blah... I'm tired.

Oh Dan I just heard this mate - sorry to hear that. How is it now? The bones should have knitted somewhat now at least. Unfortunately fractures take some time to heal - but you should be good as gold by end of July!
