don't know if anyone has though of this before, but would it be too hard to create an Imoen as the protagonist mod? I think that would be pretty interesting.

The trouble would be to invent a totally different story - what would be the interest to follow your Bhaalspawn brother/sister all the way round??

I think it would take a lot of time. Its like making a totally new game with an old engine BGII is an example of that kind of work. They took old IE and wrote all the scripting. It really was hard, I guess!

i think u missed the point, you wont be following around anyone, you are the PC as Imoen. Lets say her sibling was killed in the battle with Sarevok or whatever, and now Imoen has assumed his/her destiny.

OK, thats better But anyway, the idea is cool, but hard to do. Lots of scripts have to be rewritten, and Bodhi's part in the game will suffer a lot.

Such a mod will require some creative and skilled modders

It's harder for anyone now to make it cause nobody knows the whole infinity engine except for the creators. In the modding programs there are also unknown values etc.

Yeah, nobody knows the creation better than its creator.. And I think IE has even more capabilities than used in all BG and IWD series and PS:T whatever else...

That brings us to a sad and often repeated topic - "Why don't they make a BGIII?"
I want it soo badly

Everybody wants, but I think they think games need to be 3D whie that isn't so. I would play every new 'BG' if it came out. But 1st I'm going to order ToB and BG1 + TotSC cause it's sold out in all the Netherlands.

Heh, I play even Civilization (yeah, the first one, DOS ) from time to time And I totally do not mind graphics in a game. Ever MUDded?

TotSC are completely out of reach for me. I can get BG I from a friend, but never have I seen TotSC in close vicinity

By the way, did you play Eye Of The Beholder series? That was an old DOS game, totally in 3D. Sprites. Doom-like graphics. It was really cool! And as far as I know people still play those old games. Classics is never forgotten Tell me, why do they abandon BG series?

Our only hope lies in modding. I hope some cool poeple will gather sometime and make up a continuation for BG series on the same IE. All you need is creativity (I have nothing of it, I hate to admit ) and lots of free time. The things that rarely go together in one man

I wanted to play Caesar 1 (DOS too) but I don't get some things to work and there isn't a guide but it has really many options for a dos game of 800k

I gonna buy it on Bioware or Interplay's site.

I think they want to make money and don't get that it's about the game and not about 2D or 3D why people buy some games. I like BG2 graphics and the screenshots from BG1 I've seen much better than say NWN or DS. Everything looked real and nice but in those 3D games it's more 'blockier'(?) eg a head looks square and arms are rectangular instead of great-looking enemies in BG.
Also DS (never played NWN) has not a cool story with many sub-quests like BG has.

Our only hope lies in modding. I hope some cool poeple will gather sometime and make up a continuation for BG series on the same IE. All you need is creativity (I have nothing of it, I hate to admit ) and lots of free time. The things that rarely go together in one man

There are being made some real goodlooking Total Conversions of BG2 (mostly) with but some without TOB. Righthand side of the page cool mods in progress

Ever heard of a game called ADOM? It's a DOS game, just a bit over 2 Mb in size, and falls somewhere in the middle between Civ I and MUDs. ;D
