I'm sorry to be a downer, but I do have a problem with a chat on IW now that I think about it. If a chat is installed, then posters will be less careful about what they say. Although we may be able to learn about each other on a more personal level, it may not be a good thing. At any time, someone might type somthing offensive. Although that can happen on the boards, the mods can delete it before too many members see the message. On a chat room, that wil be too difficult, and most will already have seen it before it has a chance to be removed. On a chat room, some people may have a tendency to type the first thing that comes to mind, on the board they have time to think about it before hand, and even afterwards they can alter their posts. If someone makes a mistkae on a chat, the mark they leave may be permanent. Our opinions of each other may change for the worse, which may utterly change the friendly open atmosphere of IW. Of course, there is the chance that this won't happen, but is the risk really worth it? I certainly don't think so.

If that happens it'd be a real atmosphere, we'd get a real impression of what people are like, not a calculated and planned impression of a person's opinion (a post on a message forum).

I don't see why finding out what someone is really like is a bad thing.

I'd rather have a real atmosphere than a phony, "everybody's friendly for no apparent reason" atmosphere any day of the week/year/century.

Sorry Armageddon, but I disagree.
