OK, I LOVE this idea...

So, RudeDawag, the mad-scientist Ranger is going to polymorph a full-sized, pissed off Minotaur. Sharpen up the horns, give him a battle axe... Strap a pack of Fire potions to his back...

After preparing the Minotaur, we slap him around a bit (just to get him angrier) SMACK !

Set off the catapult, and check the results *scribbling furiously in notepad*

OK, the size of the squirrel gets good distance, but just above average. B+
The squirrl's tail allows him to "steer" in the air, giving great accuracy. (+4 to hit) A+
Surprise attack. "Hey, look at the squirrel flying at us, AAAAUUUUGGGHHH" A+
Overall damamge. *rubbing hands together in glee* The base damage for the full-sized Minotaur is 3d12. Adding in the "pissed-off" factor (+5) and the strength bonus of the Minotaur (+5) we get a base of 3d12+10 !!! 46 possible, with a factor of 3 if a Critical hit is a possible 138 !!!! And that's before he starts swinging the axe, and the added fire damage (Note, the pack should tear open when the Minotaur polymorphs back into his natural state...)

Yup, we're on a roll , here...

Nice expansion on the on the polymorph idea.

To add a further twist, adjust the catapult so that the Minotaur (in Squirrel form) skips off of the ground two or three time before reaching the target. This should drastically add to his rage!!

ehhh,,I still like the traditinal Dwarf,Halfling and Gnomes..

Lets say we can fit what?...5 dwarfs in a huge catapult..With platemail,,it might take some distance away but thats what the halflings are for,and I will get to them later..Now back to the Dwarfs,,ok a PlateMail dwarf in a 'Advanced Catapult,Edition 1' built by the gnomes,,if we use the drunken factor posted by onthepequod, the will fly an average,130 ft. doing an average 2d10 +3 the paltemail,+3 the anger that can be a possible 26 damge, a critacal x2 can be 52 damge each, thats one round of pissed off platemailed dwarf can do at highest 260.And you will be able to get far more dwarfs then minatours..and by Elmister..thats just dwarfs!!

Lets go to halflings

Now using my sling shot plan,We can fit prolbey 2 halflings each in a single giant sling shot, now, they can go on average an amazing 210 ft! Each halfling (dressed in chainmail) can do 2d6 damge, not much, thats thats 24 possible damge,a crictacal x2,thats 48 damage.AANNDD,,if we put SHort Swords on the halflings, thatd what,1d6 damge per sword?A possible 60 damge pershot..a critacal x2 120 damge at highest,,per shot!!

Ok so we shoot the halflings first for distance..then as we see the enemy get closer, let the bearded migets fly,,by the time the enemy get close to you,,if any survive,,they will have very very little hp...

any agurments?

Again, with Halflings as with Minotaurs, adjusting the catapult so that they skip off of the ground a few times before reaching the target has merit that should be taken into account. Consider:
1) The “Increased Rage Factor” which provides a hastening like effect on the Halflings when they finally come to a stop.
2) The fact the it is easier to defend yourself from objects falling from the sky than to try and dodge objects whose trajectory changes with each skip.

RudeDawg is now writing furiously in his notepad, and drawing all kinds of diagrams...
He pulls out a pocket abacus, and sliderule, and works on the mathmatical formulae...
Nodding to himself, he says "AW YEAH !"

OK, everyone.

Time to test the theories!

Give the nature of the test, the participants (ammo), the target, and any special circumstances. (ie, fire, poison gasses, etc) We need figures, dammit !

Try to list distance, accuracy, damage, and special circumstances in the results.

I'm designing my first test as we speak...
