Right. Tried editing my last post but it wouldn´t show up. What I mean is, you don´t have to act self-righteous or arrogant to play a paladin, as it isn´t an intrinsic trait of the character.

perhaps. after all, *I* had my char fight the taint of his blood. I dunno about the rest of you tho. ok, I was annoyed that day, amoen was really really starting to grate on my nerves. I'm prejudiced, so what? I hate paladins, as a class. as induviduals, I'm sure *SOME* of them are ok. Simply because Ive yet to meet one, doesnt mean there arnt any...

IMO, the Paladins are great! I dont see what you have against them. Dont judge Paladins after Anomen, cause he isnt one.
Now, Knights of the Order can be really snobby at times, they might find themselves better then others (which is the opposite example of a Paladin... I hate the Order), but just regular Paladins doesnt. [img]smile.gif[/img]

He's a Fighter/Cleric of Helm who has achieved Knighthood, not Paladinhood.

I for one disagree, in PnP Paladins are my favorite class, mine are always good, and usually not arrogant at all, except the one I based off of a whitecloak from Wheel of Time, and you can have great times with them, I'll use the case of Sir Yeoman Johnson (the original Yeoman Johnson is a made up name from an old Eddie Murphy stnd up comedy show where he talked about the red-shirt in teh original star treck series, ie when they form the away team they had Kirk, Spock, Bones, and the poor red-shirt, Yeoman Johnson, who's gonna die in that group) anyway I took Dudly Do-right's personality and adapted it to a paladin, the result was a powerful warrior who's only interest was in upholding the greater good, who was completely ignorant of his evil companions, one battle that almost led to his death involved a battle against undead, the party's 1/2ling thief(Neutral Evil) was throwing his daggers to little effect and so Yeoman Johnson gallantly stood next to him and protected the "fine upstanding young halfling" from the evil zombies the result was that his protection from evil aura ended up causing the halfling to miss more than he had been before but the paladins heart was in the right place, and he couldn't argue against the rest of the group. so that night he tried to slit Yeoman Johnson's throat.

Anyway I loved Ajantis from BG1, and never really cared for Keldorn, Annoying man(aka Ano the dung orc, or Anomen) is nothing short of an arrogant piece of crap, despite his decent stats and fair to middling combat abilities, but don't judge the class off of a very bad representation of the ultimate warrior for truth and justice. the hard to find knight in shining armor

besides Anomen probably doesn't deserve to be a paladin, why? heres a GOOD example: (probably a spoiler)

Anomen's quest if you decide to avenge anomen's sister: Anomen kills a CIVILIAN! can you believe that!? He kills the daughter of the rival family so he can avenge his sister!

Thats what made me dislike Anomen.

Anyway on to the subject, paladins can't be all bad I know that some can be quite snooby (which they are not supposted too), I play a paladin in BG2 often and I DON'T act like a snob like nobles (which happens to be MOST of them).

I´ll be the first to agree that Anomen is insufferable. But as half of the people posting here (including myself) have already pointed out: He´s NOT a paladin. He´s a dual class fighter/cleric. As I remember it, his stats don´t even qualify him for paladinhood, and he´s not Lawful Good, he´s Lawful Neutral. He doesn´t actually become a paladin when he joins the Order, either. He just joins. I also hear he becomes less of a pain in the ass after he joins, but I never could stand having him in my party long enough to find out.

I never did find Keldorn (the only actual paladin npc in the game) annoying or particularly arrogant. In fact, I remember one funny dialogue he has with Yoshimo about a dirty song involving Succubi that´s popular among younger paladins. Also, I´ve never had him and Jan in the party at the same time, but judging from screenshots I´ve seen, I´d say he doesn´t blister at Jan´s comments in the same way Anomen does (and he´s the target of many a joke by the gnome). Anyone had these two in the party who could elaborate further?

Mazzy isn´t a paladin, either, but she wants to be one, generally acts like one, and is as close to being one as a halfling can be. I didn´t find her annoying, either.

Yes, and if you opt to kill the daughter of Anomen's rival family then Anomen is not accepted into the Order. He gets rather disillusioned at being rejected by the order and become chaotic neutral. If he joins the order (ie: if you DON'T kill the girl) he becomes Lawful Good. Anomen is a good man (albeit a little misguided when you first meet him. But he matures substantially as the game progresses) and a solid party member. He is NOT a Paladin however. Edwin is Lawful Evil in alignment, that doesn't mean he is an anti-paladin does it? No. Everyone is different. Don't stereotype too much.

For the love of God... why are we all taking this COMPUTER GAME so seriously?
