Yeah, the lightning spell is nice, but eventually you're going to need something that does physical damage.

I only used pickpocket a couple times myself. Once to join the Thieves Guild in Verdistis, and once to get back one of the plague cures.

Rep also works with merchants. As your rep goes up, the prices become lower. I think you may also get more for what you sell.

I got the key to Nericon's garden, but the *%&%$& didn't want to give it to me before I had 31 rep and had taken care of the orcs and the doctor. I would have killed him, if the game would have let me do it. You can't even pickpocket him, either.

And all that for so little. Nericon's treasure sucked, and I didn't care about the restoration spell too much.

The reward for Nericon's garden isn't that great but you get extra level for restoration, which is almost useless anyway because my Singing BLade have the enchantment of Mana Drain(3), Health Drain(4) and Frost(3). I was almost invincible.

Actually, if you reputation is 15 or higher, he should give you the key.

I tried at 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and he didn't want to sell it to me.

hmm...that is weird. I got the key with just 18 reputation points. Maybe you pissed him off earlier.

My male warrior got the key at 11 reputation points, maybe different classes need different reputation point?

Yeah, that is strange. None of my characters (and I did all 3 types) ever had to have as high a rep as Luvian. On the other hand, none of them could pull it off with a rep of 15, either. There may be some things going on under the surface, possibly some quest that needs to be done first?

Of course, at rep 35, the treasure doesn't mean too much anymore, so I can see where Luvian was disappointed.

The treasure was just spare change for me.

I did it for the XP and also the Easter Egg. If you look hard enough, you will find a book lying somewhere in the garden. The book has a single line in it :Bronthion was here. Damn cool. Unfortunately even after I picked up the book, there is no extra dialog option when speak to Brontion.

If I am not mistaken, the maximum reputation points in the game is about 46+ only. I have done almost all the quests and I have yet to reach 50 points.

If I recall rightly (and it's been awhile), the one character I took all the way to the end had a rep around 50. By that time, of course, rep doesn't mean a whole lot.
