Ok, I completed the crypt below the healer's town, completed almost every quests there, and I have been exploring the map since them. I got to level 20 just by killing the monsters outside, and completing most unimportant quests.

Here are my questions:

1: I heard that going to the Dwarven bread inn to meet Elmins...err Zandalor is a story related quest, and that I should wait before doing it. How long should I wait? Should I explore all the world and do all other quests first?

2: I also heard that in that inn, an imp will steal my pyramids. What happen if I leave them both in a chest somewhere before going in? Will they still get stolen?

3: I have received the quest to find an escort for the healers, but I also received the quest to find a cure for the poisoned peoples in the quarantined area. If I complete the escort quest, will the healer cure the peoples themselves? If I cure them myself, will I be able to complete the escort quest?

4: I know the doctor is a fake, if I expose him before completing the escort quest, will I still be able to complete the escort quest?

5: Where exactly is the axe slasher? I looked around in the crypt and never found it.

1. Don't worry, go ahead and meet him there. But you will not find him there. (He has gone away)

2. Nope. The imp will only steal your teleporter piramid when you goes into Stormfist castle. It is part of the story. You will get it back later. Waaaaaaay later. BTW, do not go into Stormfist castle until you are ready to fight better, say level 25+. I suggest you acquire The Singing Blade first. Note that the stat of the blade is random and it might take a few try for you to get the right stat.

3. Do the escort quests first because there is a time limit. Once you have completed it, then do the quest to find the cure. BTW, the healers will not be able to cure the victims. Looks like you got the work cut out for yourself real good.

4. Hmm... You might want to reload your game first. You should expose the "good" doctor after you have done all the quests from the farm area. Once you are in his dungeon, remember to pickup the 2 bottle of the antidote. You will only have one chance to do it. After that, he will kick you out from the house and lock it.

5. Somewhere in the lower levels of the crypt, there are a few tiles which leads to underground chamber. One of the chamber has the Slasher in it.

So I can go inside, then? And then still keep exploring?

What if I don't bring the pyramids with me? Will he still steal them?

Where is that Singing Blade? Oh! Im a mage, by the way.

I hope I didn't wait too long, I explored about 80% of the map, already.

I didn't expose him yet, it's just obvious he poisoned them, and strangled the one that died.

DOH! I saw those tiles, but wanted to wait last to mess up with them, and a saw the necromancer, and I never came back.

yep, you can keep exploring. just don't explore the stormfist castle before you are ready.

Nope, the imp won't appear. it's okay and it's not a game stopping thing.
Singing Blade? can't remember it but if you don't have the necesarry strngth and dexterity you can forget about the blade.

use freeze spell on necromancer.

So if the imp don't steal my pyramids, I'll be able to go get them when I come ut of the castle and never lose them?

Is there any other places in the world where I should not go now? I would hate to be exploring at random and kill or do something that might mess up a quest.

The trick to this game is to do everything you can before entering Stormfist castle. I never did it myself before level 30 (except the very first game, where I had such a hard time I restored and left it for much later!).

Losing the pyramids is annoying but not a real problem, especially when you have all the teleporters on. Also, after you rescue Zandalor, you get the pyramids back. I recall from the official Larian boards that some people had problems when they tried to get tricky and keep the pyramids from being taken.

Getting the healer escort is usually the first quest to finish outside Aleroth. Then you can take your time and work on everything else (a little late for you now, of course).

As for the doctor, first do the poisoned harvest quest (from Hugh), then head to the doc's place in the merchant area. Have a chat with him, and after he throws you out (so to speak), find the key and let yourself back in.

is the game worth getting in everyones opinion???

Luvian 01-20-2003 10:38 PM

If it wasn't we would't be talking about it.

That depends on what you like. DD is a cross between Diablo and Might & Magic. The advancement system is very much in the Diablo mode, so is the basic style of fighting.

However, it has the freedom of movement of M&M - go where you like, when you feel like going there, plus the usual long list of "things to do" that you end up with in a typical Might & Magic game. So there's a lot to do in the way of quests, plus plenty of combat.

The game is buggy, and it's all too easy to screw up a number of quests without realizing it. Fortunately, most of the quests are not related to the major storyline, so you won't mess that up. If you get DD, you'll want to visit the official site for the latest patch.

Oh yeah, this is a single-character outing.

You will get the Singing Blade after you killed Pedro (The Borken Wheel quest). IMO, this game is awesome for sword wielding heroes. Extremely good swords can be obtained in the game, Noble's blade (The holy weapon quest, 1H sword), Singing Blade (The broken wheel quest, 2H sword) and Chaos Blade (Hidden item, 2H sword)

You can safely roam verdists and do all the quests there without ruining the main quest. If you are strong enough, head out to the dark forest.

Actually, it is not buggy. It is the price to pay for an open ended game. If the developers had set limitation the scripts not to spoil quests, the game would not be that fun and player will probably be limited to fewer accessable areas to explore early in the game. IMO of course... ;)
