IIRC, BGT combines all of those 4 separate things. You still need to have all of them. But I wouldn't know for sure.

However, there's also various options, like reducing the number of party members, or attempting to role play and get to ****SPOILER**** * * * * * ** * * * * Imoen as Rapidly as possible, without completing every side quest, and without buying or picking up every powerful item in the game. Also, you can turn the difficulty up. At the moment I'm playing an evil party, with only the PC (a theif), Korgan, Edwin and Vicona. I'm attempting to do only what is necessary to get to 'That unfriendly mage fellow'. I don't buy armor, weapons or anything else unless it's absolutely imperitive, and I rely mainly on those things that I find along my way to Irenicus.

I don't think eigher BG1 or BG2 is "better". They both have their goods and their bads and I have spend too much time tring to figure out which is better only to determine that that is a question that has no answer. They are both better for different reasons.
Also I am thinking of tring BGT and was wondering if it is really buggy and would it work with other mods (Valen and Solaufein).

If not you can get it from many different FTPs. Just go to http://www.google.com and search for BGT and FTP or something or download mIRC. and you are right it combines all four!

A thought... in BG1, there were several 'main' quests you had to complete in order to advance the story (Nashkel Mines, etc), and everything else was a little teensy quest (go to a place, fight something, come back). In BG2, everything's a reasonably large quest, just like a D&D module! I like that in-depthness of BG2.

Freedom? What do I need freedom for? My character is a tool of fate, his destiny is sealed... no room for freedom in his life.

What I like about BG2 is that you're not just roaming around (like you were often in BG1) but have a reason to go to the areas you visit.
Before you know where Trademeet is you can't go there but once you need to it will be on your map. Many BG1 areas were like the three additional areas you get after exiting the Underdark, pointless with only some random encounters and one tiny mini-quest (Coran, Safana). I don't like that. I like to know where I go and WHY.
