Yes, that's true, Cloudy. I think it also would depend on how reliable your information is - like did you witness the event yourself or hear about it from another source? And even if you saw it yourself, how sure can you be that it is how you interpreted it, or is there another explanation? If you're not sure if your information is accurate then telling whoever it involves may do more harm than good.

I agree, Aelia. Unless of course your information is either about yourself or first hand knowledge of something and then, of course it goes back to who you wantto tell or feel you need to tell and how they'll react.

If someone ask for my opinion, I say it. I would still try to dress it in nice words, but nothing that would have any effect on the meaning or make it ambiguous. If you ask for a opinion, you should be prepared to hear things you don't like.

If like above, then yes. Again, I would still put it in the less nasty way as possible. If no one sak for my opinion in particular, I don't go around and express it, especially not if it might offend someone. That's just showing poor social skills.

Edit: An important note; with the above I meant mainly in everyday social life. If someone types something at, say, an internet forum, I assume they want opinions without asking for it specifically.

Sometimes. Every situation is different, but sometimes if you don't someone else will, and you can still find yourself getting in crap. If it's something you did you have to think carefully about who it will effect, and the realistic outcome (although sometimes this is worse/better than expected)

If it isn't related to this then I may or may not, it all depends on the situation; and who I'm speaking to.

i lack subtelty. and i struggle for tact. if it is something devestating i sit back and wait, in case it's not what i think at all, something different is going on.

example- mary and bobby aren't quite married. but they live together and have two kids. she got pregnant even after having her tubes tied. she miscarried and the dr's fixed the problem with her previoud fixing (she will likely miscarry everytime she get's pregnant because her body has told her it is done.) one day....not snooping, i swear, i found condoms in her hubby's dice bag. this is a bag i made myself, so when i saw it int he cupboard i was looking to see how well it was standing up to the rigors of gaming.

instead of pulling her aside when she came home (we were babysitting) i looked at teh situation. he doesn't take his dice bag to work, and he doesn't have friends beyond us. her dice are in there too, so it can't be a secret to her. they were prolly left over from between the miscarriage and when the dr's re-fixed her.

i think it's best to sit back and observe if you know it will hurt someone.

but if someone asks for your opinion, give it, as nicely as you can, but be honest. if you don't have the right words for it and they insist on having it anyway, there is nothing you can do, they asked for t.

Seems as though the consensus is pretty much the same.

Thanks for the input.
