I can honestly say that is the first time I've ever heard that opinion expressed! I think you have just made my day, that's hilarious! You do know that a large portion of it is out of use at the moment following a huge crash, right?

It would be good to go for a beer if you wanted to meet up. You're here for a few weeks if I'm correct?
I forgot you were an East London person until you mentioned that Epona. The loss of the Central line hardly affects me at all personally... In any other thread I'd laugh and be generally smug but considering the purpose of this one it seems largely inappropriate...
Actually, Reeka says the same thing about the tube. She says the public transport in the USA is non-existent, and that the tube system shocked her with it's superb efficiency, promptness, and convenience.

And I know form current experience how tough job-searching is. It's a bitch, alright, but somehting will turn up. It always does.

HAHAHAHAHA! This is killing me - and certainly cheering me up. No Londoner would say something like that!

I suppose there is a difference between using it off-peak as a visitor, and trying desperately to struggle to and from work every day. It is a bit of a joke that no matter where you live and work in London, it takes 1 hour each way to travel between them. At my old flat, I was living 5 miles from where I worked - and yes, it took 1 hour by tube. Then I moved 8 miles away - and still 1 hour. Commuting in from 50 miles away took about 1 1/2 hours each way -15 minutes by scooter from home to the station, 40 minutes on the overground train, the remainder of the time was spent travelling the last 2 miles within London.

I think it also makes a difference when you visit from somewhere with very little in the way of good public transport.

But having to rely on the tube can be a bit of a nightmare. Delays every day, breakdowns, security alerts, signal failures, every day there is some part of the tube network with large delays. Personally I prefer the bus, I like to see where I'm going, and now we have congestion charging they are moving a bit faster.

Ahh, don't get down Epona! Things may be tough but all will be well, and who knows, maybe we'll bump into each other someday (if you're in the US anyway).

No worries

How little you know of our climate. April means that hardier souls leave home without snowshoes and full arctic survival gear.

Unless of course you live in Newcastle, where some strange, as yet unexplained metereological phenomenon or microclimate means that the inhabitants of "The Toon" can wear T-shirts all year round

Hey Epona! I don't stop in to much, and rarely post, but Ironworks love and "santuary" always is in good thoughts with me. I hope you find new zest for life and wish you all the best sis.
