What can we do for you? It's Friday, you know, weekend is here!

Cloudbringer 03-14-2003 11:40 AM

Aww, this was sweet, realbinkster! Epona's between jobs right now and she's a little depressed about the search and such.

I know how I felt when my fiance was having to look for work... so I can well understand if our Epona is a bit gloomy...but hmmm...you're right.. we should be able to cheer her up...

 PARTY!!!!!!!!

Well, I suppose we could just send our good wishes...uh.. and some cake!

Epona, please don't be sad. You were one of the first people to ever speak to me on the Board. Remember: Its Friday, its Payday, and there are going to be parties all weekend for St. Patrick's Day (its the wrong weekend for 'ginger' jokes :) ) Please post a smile & let us know that you're OK. Please?

Hang in there Epona, things will get better and you have a whole messageboard here who is rooting for you...

LOL every day is the weekend and payday never arrives when you're unemployed!

I am very moved to see this thread, quite choked up actually. Thank you all so much for noticing and caring, and thank you realbinky for starting it

I am having a hard time at the moment. I lost my job just before christmas, and despite trying I haven't found work yet. I am skint. Worst of all, yesterday I ended it with a most lovely bloke I've been seeing for nearly a year. I'm really torn up about it - there were some things that were causing me pain in the relationship that couldn't be resolved. I feel I had no choice but to say it's over, but it hurts. We exchanged some touching e-mails today and I'm absolutely gutted, but ending it was the only thing I could do. I'm not used to feeling miserable and it's all a bit weird.

Thank you all so much, you are wonderful people and I love you all.

Epona, certainly don't let a lack of a job get you down, and certainly don't let it lower your sense of self-worth. 2 summers ago (not last, but the one before) I got laid off in June, and ended up having the summer off, and got work again in Sept. Had I known, I would have enjoyed my summer off, and not stressed. As it was, every day was a trial about getting work. But it did "work" out. At some point, hopefully soon, someone will see how great you are and you will be on your way again! Until then, sponge off mates as you can

Chin up Epona dear.
Hey, if we should happen to bump into each other while I'm here in London I'm simply going to HAVE to buy you a beer lass.
You never know what's around the corner luv. Hang in there and don't give up looking. Remember though, we work to live, we don't live to work. Even a temporarily-unemployed person in London has life SO much better than most of the world's population. Everything's going to be fine. Hey, it's a beeeautiful day outside in London today (man, this place is so cool! The tube system alone rules!), clear skies from hear on out eh?
And as for your fellah, well. Over the years you've given out some fantastic advice concerning relationships. You've got the wisdom and maturity to make it through any short-term rough patch. Keep the faith dear lady.

I can honestly say that is the first time I've ever heard that opinion expressed! I think you have just made my day, that's hilarious! You do know that a large portion of it is out of use at the moment following a huge crash, right?

It would be good to go for a beer if you wanted to meet up. You're here for a few weeks if I'm correct?

Heh heh. Well, coming from NZ anything big-cityesque is pretty phenomenal to behold ;) One thing that's a little disconcerting though, not a real hill or waterfall in site. That'll take a little getting used to But this city is lovely (at least from what I've seen so far, I just took my first ride on a double decker bus. Got away with not paying my fare heh heh). I'm finally motivated to get my history/classics high-school teaching degree and get my UK work visa And yeah, I heard about the tube crash. Terrible thing to happen... :(

As for beers, I'm keen. I'm staying with my older sister. We'll have to get in touch via pm and if hooking up is do-able then we'll have to sort something out we could do a londoners meet-up or something. Good times

See, Epona, things are looking up, already. I'll e-mail you a little Texas sunshine, and wish I could have a beer with you and the Heirophant. Good luck!
