well I don't know about the rest of you, but I plan to still be alive 200 years from now, so here's what I predict:
Mankind will reip the benefiets of preserving human heads in jars, and nuclear winter and global warming will cancel eachother out. OH and santa clause will turn into a giant evil killer robot, while the average virgin's life expectency will drop to 15 minutes in this brave new world. It'll be like Lexx mixed with futurama with a dash of star trek and some babylon 5 while i'm in a good mood... but there won't be aliens, just interdimensional visitors. and yes... Stelone will make another Rocky... 10 more to be precise...

Well 3000 years of human civilisation hasnt changed anything. I dont see what an additional 200 years will change. Throughout human history the world has been constantly improved, new things constantly discovered, new wonders revealed every day, and it is true that the average standard of living today is a lot higher than it was 200 years ago. But is human life itself any one whit better since its inception? Its the same system, but with prettier dressing. You'd think that if humanity was to one day unite, they would have done it when the first man landed on the moon. Or when electricity was harnessed. Or when the Wright brothers invented the aeroplane. When the Romans conquered much of what is today the modern world. When Alexander the Great marched across continents. Every one of these events was earthshaking in its own time. None of them united the world for any length of time. What could possibly happen in the future that would proportionately eclipse them all in terms of significance?
Nuclear weapons? Splitting the atom? Nanotechnology? Nuclear Fusion? Interstellar Colonisation? Abolition of War? The ability to prolong and restore life? The elimination of all disease and illness? The human condition is such that we'll find newer and newer ways to squabble and fight even if the world itself were given to us on a silver platter. We'd just find other ways to wage war. Other ways to compete. No matter how much we accomplish, the trouble lies inherent in men itself, not the tools that he creates. Unless one day we find the way to change the nature of men beyond all recognition, we'll be locked in this cycle forever. We've perfected the art of civilisation and competition through 2000 years of progress. It is perfect in that it can never be altered, never be changed, the model by which it runs is always the same, just that the players are different. It would take a drastic step indeed to change the nature of human society as it has existed throughout the ages.

I am going to have to take issue with the statement that "everyone hates the USA today". That is simply not true. While many may hate us, and or disagree with our policies and influence in the world community, we are still the worlds largest contributor to international aid and relief programs and like us or not, they happily accept our financial contributions to their national relief if nothing else. So just maybe, they do in fact, like us, at least for that, maybe just the teensiest, weenciest little bit. Maybe some countries do hate us, after all, no country in the world ever wants to feel subordinated to another, but hey, how many countries can you name who gladly give hundreds of millions of dollars in aid to countries that they know despise them and will probably and have used portions of that aid against us to kill our troops, often peace keeping and our civilians overseas? And yet knowing they despise us, and may attack and kill our own using the aid we give, we still give them the aid anyway, because we care about humanity and want to ease suffering when we can. Maybe we are as terrible as some think, but at least in some respects it is a good thing we are here.
