Finger of death and Firkrag

that is why i like very much spells like that because you have to understand it and know it well before using it and if you do PUM it's over, they can be whatever they are that it doesn't matter they just die.

There is nothing to understand in Finger of Death. You cast it on something, simple. Did the spell work on the first try, or did you reload until it worked? If you reloaded, then it really is pathetic, you might as well have used insta kill cheat.

If you got it on the first try, then congrats on a great victory. What I do when I fight dragons is to fully buff up before the fight, then start by casting spells such as finger of death or harm. If it fail I keep playing and kill him using other tactics, if it work, then I have been very lucky and Bards will be singing for years how I killed the mighty dragon with a sigle word and gesture.

My Word Pathetic wasent meant for you as a person, But for the degrading way you took the life of a wonderous create of Faerun.
And my way of thinking about magic etc. For your information i have played Mages and only mages for the last 6 months...i have gotten and used preciusly every spell that is in SoA/ToB to see which setup that suits me. i have saves at every major battle just incase i want to try something new at it..

I can understand if you are at very very very low level and use a Finger of Death Spell..But I like To Fight Dragons in enourmous Battles using Combat spells, not quick death spells.

Clearing out Trademeet of its entire population and then summon in say 5 different dragons using CluaConsole and then do a 1 Mage vs 5 Dragons battle ! Just using Conventional spells in a battle like that...There you got the Mage skills !

Which is why, as I have mentioned on my website, you have to lower the Dragon's magic resistance and saving throws.

A Spell Trigger with 3 Lower Resistances, Greater Malison and Doom will result in a very vulnerable Dragon( or most targets for that matter).

I usually have 3-4 spellcasters in my party, and when all of them have Chromatic Orbs memorised... it is a very fun time.

Dragon: Save! Save! Save! Save! Ack! No! Too many Orbs! I *urk*... ...

Heck, I have even seen Mind Flayers die to Chromatic Orbs, if it bypasses their magic resistances that is.

However... my all-time favourite anti-Dragon spell is still Polymorph Other. Nothing brings out the laughter more than reducing the oh-so-mighty-Dragon into a Wing Buffeting Squirrel.

When i first send the message a had just started the game for the 8º time and if you go to the Throne of Bhaal Page of this forum and see the topic Melissan you will see why.

All I normally do is use "Lower Resistance" spells on the dragons before I cast any form of instant death spell (such as "Finger of Death"). Works a charm. If you dont wanna use intant death spells, then just lower its resistance anyway. Most of the attacts will get through.
