Is there a vacancy for part-time bard at The Bear's Arms? I could do an evening slot in return for bed and board.

I'm also pretty handy to have around the kitchens, I can rustle up some hearty fare for the patrons between songs.

Alright. Let's get started then

Steven (no last name/nickname just yet. Haven't earned it )

Axe dangling in one hand, he looked at his new home. He was not displeased with it, but it did strike him as crude. The oaken walls sprouted the beginnings of branches, and he hadn't had the time to build a door yet. Windows, too, were simply gaps in the wall. Still, it would be dry inside
Standing on a hill overlooking Waterdale, the little building would probably be his home for years to come. He was glad the inside looked better, more professional.
The walls were smoother, and more or less straight. He'd cut himself a low table and used the stump of a tree to sit on. A wall seperated the main room from his bedroom.

Only then did he realise his two greatest mistakes. By building on a hill, he'd have to come down for water every day. It could likely be fixed by digging a second hole, several meters away from the lantrine, and letting the rain fill it up.
The other error was not building a chimney. In fact, he did not even have a fireplace. Steven decided he'd best get down to the village to get some help finishing his house.
In his head, he made a mental list of the things he'd need.
Heavy cloth for the door and windows, a builder to help him out with the chimney, preferably some young men to help digging the new pit. And a signpost. He could see it now. "Steven, woodsman since 0222".

(with 0222 being 02-22 or february 22nd )

Neb looked out of the window of his small three-story tower near the center of Waterdale, it had been erected by magical means and would require no repair.

After taking a quick breath of the fresh air he rushed down to the bottom of the tower to stand behind the counter of the small store that he ran where he sold simple magical items and potions to people.

He could also provide healing for a small sum and he was often willing to buy magical items from those needing cash more than magic.

Seeing that noone was going to buy anything this early in the morning Neb leaned back against the wall on a chair and started reading a book.

Epona thumped again at the door of the Inn. "Why are they always shut when one needs a job?" she muttered to herself, checking the sky for signs of rain. She shifted her blistered feet within her battered boots, and placed her backpack on the floor.
"Come on, come on" she muttered testily, thumping again at the door. It had been a long walk to get here, the sound of a new town sounded like just the break she needed - where no-one knew nor cared about her past, and where she might finally escape the turgid daily routine of waiting tables in taverns, dressed in a corset that made it difficult to breathe and having her arse pinched by the drunken patrons.
She rested her old lute on the ground, and sat down, leaning against her pack for comfort, waiting for the inn to open.

Joe

“So today’s the day,” he thought more than a little nervous, but excited all the same. “Been a lot of years gettin’ ready for this ... and there still ain’t no guarantees. But I’ll be damned if I’m gonna spend my life as just another skilled hand on building site.” He looks around the bulding – it’s a small shop and he’ll be needing more tools soon if business catches on. “Room to expand, though – that’s why I picked this spot. But it’s lumber I’ll really be needin’ – some good quality hardwood.” He glances through the window at the forest – “Would get some myself if I knew the first thing about telling an oak from a maple from an ash.” He laughs a moment, “Funny how I can make ‘em into all kinds of things once they’re in my shop but I wouldn’t know where to begin cuttin’ ‘em down myself.” He moves away from the window and picks up the sign – Joe McGinley, carpenter, builder. “Looks like this is it,” he says and places the sign on the post in front of his shop. He turns again to look at the place and smiles – it’s a little small, but it’s his.

OOC>>Well, the most glaring need that I see right now is for some kind of police force. I read somewhere that no matter where the pioneers settled, no matter how alruistic their goals, or how religious they were, they always had to build two thing: a cemetary and a jail. So, I'll open a chapter of the Order in town, and we'll enforce order and the rulings of the magistrates, okay? IC>>
LADY GALADRIA (As the sun is stetting, a tall blonde woman on a large horse rides into town and goes over to Secretmaster's house.)
