Scatter... http://www.flamestryke.com/wizardry8...trykes_w8.html
This site allows you to see each and every weapon. PLUS, it gives you the LOCATION and IF IT IS RANDOM. But the best part is, this site also gives you a LIST OF "RANDOM" CHEST ITEMS (along with the %/chance of getting the certain item). For example, the *light sword* has a 1.2% (or something like that) of randomly dropping from a "certian creature".

ON A MORE UPSETING TOPIC: I hate to say this but the RELOAD option doesn't work at all for me. Every game I have played, I have (at one time or another) tried to reload inorder to get the better weapons and NOTHING!!! I always get the same stuff no matter how many times I reload. Can someone tell me WHY??? I can remember 1 specific time when I reloaded atleast 20+ times and still got the same stuff (davy jones' locker). Can someone please explain to me why I have NEVER got new items after RELOADING.

The containments of a chest are determined when you enter the area, not when you open the chest ! I.e., you'd have to reload outside the area, walk in and open the chest to get something new. Which makes the whole thing about Mr Jone's Locker particularly... time consuming

Cheers

You are correct Pyrates, which is why I was particularly happy that I got excalibur the first time I opened lol I was prepared to reload the map if I didn't but was not looking forward to having to do it lol

Well, I fought those ghosts, and you can easily spend a lot of time there while counting how many vaporizers you can get in one single battle *G*

No, really, it's ok there, they're not too far from the border of the area, and you just fight the first round, because you kill half of them in that round, and if you didn't find the nifty stuff after that, you reload.

Oh, yeah, thanks for that patient Most call me stubborn...

Cheers

Question Mark

Speaking of the more advanced weapons and things...

I tried many times to get Excaliber, *Light Sword*, *Light Shield*, etc. Many times. But I gave up after ten or so attempts: that Nessie reload thing was really draining on time and patience. Same with the ghost pirates. I know there are some tricks to make it easier. Now I try once or twice and move on. I generally wait 'til later to tackle them now (and they are piece of cake).

I think the Excaliber as the ultimate is over-rated. I have it now. Yeh, does great damage (22-99 HP, 2 x 2 attacks by Gtrrar the fighter Felpurr) but the minus in initiative and lack of shield or second weapon makes me wonder.

BTW, my fighter with X has lev 36 in armor protection. He just doesnt get hit anymore! Well, almost. He doesn't get anywhere close to dying. I'm getting better results with my ranger and monk than the fighter. But he built up more kills. They are catching up, tho. I wonder what the highest armor protection level is? Without Superman. Gtrrar has 82 stealth, he could gain 2 more levs there as a rogue (if I had taken him to the max). I think he has the best armor possible. Mantis stuff, gold breastplate, platinum greaves, infinity helm, rainbow cloak, etc.

The *Light Sword* was never mine to wield in this game. Loved it in Wiz 7. The shield is first class. With my current party, I have had to discard some great weapons. I think I had 4 vaporizers in a previous game (one and a Frontier thing in this one). Now I am letting Staff of Doom and Cane of Corpus (and many others) go. I'm set to get the Ivory Blade and Vampire Chain next time I go back to Ferro, may be worth it. I'm saving some of these weapons and certain armor for a pair of miscreants I have to rescue later on...

You still can get killed, no matter the armor and weapons. This game keeps you interested, because you can't assume what will happen next in battle and exploration. Most of the time.

Edit: fixed a typo

I have never had the light sword, so cannot comment there, but Excalibur is an awesome piece of equipment in the right hands. I find that with a fighter who has concentrated on sword and close combat, strength and dexterity, powerstrike, excalibur in berserk mode consistently does 300-400+ hit points of damage per round of combat (2x2, and never misses). For a fighter, there is no need for a shield by the time you can get Excalibur - anyway I have never had a fighter die from taking too many hitpoints of damage in melee (it's only been by death cloud or some such method). If you've been concentrating on dual wielding and/or don't have powerstrike maybe excalibur doesn't show its potential.

I work up close combat, sword and bow skill on my fighters so the one game when I did get excalibur I was very impressed. My fighter was hitting 300-400 damage a swing and he never missed. I tried swapping the weapon with my Lord and my Lord couldn't hit anything reliably with excalibur and didn't do as much damage as the Fighter did. I think the sword is much more impressive in the hands of a character with high strength, close combat and sword skill.
