Eventually the Don will offer to sell it to you, but if you kill him he will drop it for free. There are no disadvantages to being hostile with the Razuka with any other factions - every once in a while you might get attacked by some Razuka goons wandering around, that's about it.

I have only played to Marten's Bluff once and then I created parties over and over, played them only to Arnika. I hope I'm satisfied with my next one and finish the game...
Then i suggest ignoring pickpocket completely.
I used pp a lot in my first two starts, but soon the game got that boring with all the powerful equipment i had early. So i started over again.

Seems to be a good idea. Gives my Bard three additional Points and saves me from some headache.
Are there a lot of unique items in the game that I'll miss when playing without PP?

People say it better to PP the guy in the swamp ( the one that will kipnap one of your character )as he got some good gadgets.

Crock will sell the gadget parts he has, you just have to reload before opening his inventory for that 8-hour section. (like reloading for chests/drops)
There are some unique drops, if you can't PP, you have to kill for'em.
Some take a lot of reloading to get to drop, like 10% or lower chance.
Some of the things you can only get by PP or kill are really kewl, but none is required to complete the 'mission'.
