To get all philosophical, consider if the suffering of a single solo player outweighs the mass suffering of a server-load of people with lag and no quests

How about 5 minutes? That way, if the solo player crashes out, he has time to log back in, but there's still a reasonable chance of a reset if he leaves for good...

LOL, I'd say that's fair, shamrock I just figure if it is always hard to find quests/items and rarely resets it gets frustrating for some of us and we just don't go back in once we see it like that. I was thinking it's a shame to have people driven off because resets are few and far between. But I do see the solo persons problem if their game crashes or something, too.

I agree with Shamrock on the five minute reset. The possibility of getting back in without losing your place if you are the only player on and you crash is very welcome.

The other point which people are mentioning here is that, with Undermountain becoming more and more popular, there is a much greater chance now of logging in and finding quests done and the levels covered in the debris of previous fights.

Something similar happened when I logged on last night. The mod seemed to have been well farmed. I did team up with Toro and Talia in the proving grounds but eventualy ended up in a (enjoyable) conversation with them and others on the shout channel.

All the while other players were logging in but they may not have found much to do by then.

Is there a case now for regular or automatic resets (alongside the reset when empty)? Perhaps every few hours or at set times of the day so that players would know when to come in to get a long run on the server.

I hope something can be done. It is madding trying to get in and get to a quest before the Farmer boys and girls.
I am glad that the mod has taken off.
Quicker resets or only allowing each player to be able to do each quest once per reset. I kinda figure that would be hard to script but it would be a great feature..

Just my .05 cents worth.

Is there a way to shut off a quest, say if a player come thru and does the quest? That way all the little people(lvl-wise) will be able to get xp points. I think that is a good deal.

Yeah, I thought about this but I'm not sure if its feasible.

The script behind the character giving the quest would have to remember which character has done it, yet somehow reset themselves to let others do the quest. Not sure if that's possible...

Hmmm not really at the moment you can do multiple quests (I.e Kraken Spy quest) its just that the quest item doesn't respawn.

Maybe Z could write up a script to respawn all the quest items every 2 hours or something like that.

Respawn the quest items.. now there is an idea..But I Have Bumpis {sp?} eggs and if someone has done the quest it will not let me finish the quest..
Wish I knew more about scripting NWN.

Hmmm thats strange because I have been able to do the demon artifact quest twice when I had two of the items on me.

Strange.
