Dundee: Thanks - that's a good thought (did I mention she was immune to everything else?). I don't have any level 9 spells yet, but it's starting to look like I'll have to come back later in the game (after WK) anyway.

Hank: Six apparently did it, but his review predates the addition of the two mages (and their pet greater elemental(s)). Ditto for the hints included with the Tactics files. I have yet to see a post by someone who did it after the most recent Bodhi makeover. To be honest, I was hoping to bring someone out of the woodwork with my post.

I've also just noticed that trying to toast her with summons outside my field of vision (cheesy, I realize) does absolutely nothing. She takes damage, but when I check on her, she remains "uninjured".

Leslie just recently defeated Improved Bodhi in a No-Reloads game on Insane Difficulty (IIRC).

Here is the link to his entire adventure, including the final encounter with Bodhi (found on Page 3 of the thread).

Leslie's Recent No Reloads Game

Hope that helps and gives you some more ideas.

Thanks - just checked that out. Leslie makes it sounds so easy and, in so doing, confirms that I may need to come back once I have some HLAs or at least Time Stop (it's a relief Bodhi's not immune to that).

I'll give it a couple more tries, then I'm off to WK for some more experience.

I think Leslie just gave us the major highlights of the encounter. If you go back and read over it again, you will see that he actually had a very tough fight on his hands. He used TimeStope and managed to get Bodhi down to Near Death, only to have her instantly Heal herself and negate ALL the damage his sorcerer had just dealt out. She also completely removed Anomen from the fight and reduced him to drinking potions of Healing just to stay alive. The rest of the group - including Keldorn with his impressive Dispels and bonuses against evil creatures - were very hard pressed to defeat her. It took the combined effort of the rest of his party to defeat her, and she gave them all they could handle in the process.

I realize that Leslie's account of the fight does make it sound easy, but if you go back and re-read everything that happened, you will see (as I did) that the fight was a LOT harder than the brief account he gives of it makes it appear.

Yes, Cerek is right. The fight is really tougher then it reads but you have one controllable thing out there - Bodhi is not capable of dispelling stuff! So you can BUFF like hell and stand mano-a-mano with her.

The biggest problem at the start is her cloud of bats thingie. I was unable to dispel it and it lasts very long. The character(s) who are under this bat stuff are in a big trouble. So the first pointer is that if you can somehow make her throw it on a summon or maybe on someone with many HP who will get out of fight and gulp potions.

After that she has some nasty spells (sepulchural sleep, darkness something) but they can be resisted or protected or healed.

What you need is someone with PFMW (and fully buffed) to stand against her while the rest of the party is attacking her from sides or from range.

And you have to do it twice since she heals.

Excellent. Having slept on it, I'm starting to formulate a new plan. I was being a bit facetious about Leslie making it sound easy - I said that mostly because Leslie was successful where I have failed (a number of times now). The PfMW is something I haven't tried yet. Since Bodhi's attacks go through eveything else, I figured PfMW wouldn't do me much good.

I managed to get her to "badly injured" after she healed herself (at which point, oddly, my journal showed that I had defeated her although I still needed the lanthorn), but then she did her multi-vampiric touch, sepulchral sleep, darkness and ADHW (I think - there was a lot going on in that corridor) virtually at the same time, and it was all over. BTW, Leslie is right about the bats - it they get on a spellcaster, he/she's out of commission and will be lucky to live.

I'm going to try PfMW and SI:Necromancy, in addition to other buffs. Again, I will report back so that others (if they want to) might know what not to do.

Bloody Hell! He made it schoolless! I was going to suggest SI:Conjuration to counter Cloud of Bats, but he made it schoolless!

Cloud of Bats is basically a renamed Creeping Doom(and improved...). It does 2 damage per second, but 4 on Insane Difficulty since the damage is doubled.

The following advice is going to sound weird, but try the following counters for Cloud of Bats.

(Minor)Globe of Invulnerability

Making a spell schoolless is not a form of cunning IMHO... ...

I thought you were referring to Bodhi first, Leslie Then I realised you were talking about Westley

What I would want to know is why, storywise, Bodhi should be so darn hard. Or is it just "Tactics is about creating tougher opponents, so let's grant Bodhi some special abilities to deal out"?
