I have SoA (obviously), ToB and the first ToB patch installed. What bearing does this have on Edwin's gender realignment or the Viconia/Half-Orc Romance?

If you got him to "transform" even after you told him that's party treasure, then I'm not certain. Probably the quest will more likely proceed forth if not telling him that. My first time telling him such didn't get the quest going, and the next time I chose the other answer, and it went well. Maybe it's just a more buggy quest as Six said or there's other varibables (such as the PC alignment or party rep. during that period).

Apparently Bioware originally intended half-orcs to be able to romance Viconia but for some reason unknown to me it wasn't implemented. Therefore baldurdash added it to there fix pack so if you want your half-orc to romance Viconia no mod is needed just download the baldurdash fixpack (link in Dundee's forum FAQ).

Pardon, but I think you've played the game and missed the story almost totaly..

Imoen's quest is getting her back, yea sure you can follow jon boy to try and get revenge but realy, she does have a quest..

As far as I can rember each time I've played though it don't realy matter what you say to him, I think..

Name one thing (apart from an Imoen-specific banter) that you can do as a result of having Imoen in the party, but cannot do without her.
