Ah... but you created your Monk in ToB. A Monk from SoA at maximum level, fully decked out and with his bonus stats, will be a different story.

![]() Bregg and Cohrvale hitting Jaheira: Cohrvale 26 damage Bregg 20 damage Cohrvale 30 damage (no critical hits) That 80 damage I got - "you get hit twice" - with a little stronger opponents.

Ah, you mean in two hits. I thought you meant a single hit. 20-30 damage is pretty normal on Insane. It is the backstabs that will kill you, not the normal hits( unless you are meleeing an Adamantium Golem or something
![]() AC is easy to improve though, and as I said, short of bosses, most enemies will require a Critical Hit to touch your solo tank. |

Most of the tougher melee enemies will actually regularly score hits above 40 on Insane. Greater Mummies and Liches (with BBoD) can for instance cause damage in the 70-80 range on a good hit. Dragons also hurt badly and the Improved Mindflayers have some of the most devastating attacks I've ever seen. A single Ballistic attack downed a completely healthy lvl 21 Minsc, causing somewhere around 140-150 dmg.

Greater Mummies and Liches are not exactly what I would term as 'normal' enemies, but in any case, PfUndead Scrolls.
Dragons are scary in melee yes, but they spend the first few rounds casting spells. A Warrior can down a Dragon in two rounds, barring certain ToB ones which require a bit more tactics( but still doable, although you need a lot of potions and scrolls). Mind Flayers are problematic I will agree, and a solo Warrior will be hard-pressed to defeat them easily, but in any case, Greater Deathblow( ToB HLA). ![]() Too much hype for Critical Hit and Greater Whirlwind. ![]() |

Talkin' about Mind Flayers - does Chaotic Commands (priest spell) make you completely immune to their nonphysical attacks (psionics)?
Not sure - becuase the last time I played I had Kensai/Mage and Ranger/Cleric both completely buffed, improved hasted and supported by Improved Bard song (from somewhere in the distance )and they cleared ther lair in 5 minutes - no tactics just rush in and kick some butt. What do you think Ulitharid thinks, when he sees 12 attacks in 6 seconds - using Fury, Sanchu, Flail of Ages and Defender of Easthaven ) ![]() (heh, had to write that)
