Okey, this is what hell is like, having a cold, stuffed nose and sore throat, accompanied by a toothache from hell, that wont go away no matter how much painkillers you take... I actually feel a bit "fuzzy" and still the damn tooth hurts...and I don't dare to take anymore for a while... you know, overdose and all that. plus I'm tired, it's 9 in the morning here and I didn't sleep all night... and there is no dentist available... WAAAHH!!!

Please shoot me...

Well it's sunday morning and everything is closed and they don't do "emergency situations" :|

I read the leaflet and I think I've taken a bit more than the recommended dose. but it seems to be receeding a bit now, either that or I'm just getting numb to it.

Maybe the IW has an unknown helaing power...

Perhaps you could try some natural remedies to numb the pain?

Hope your luck improves

Awww Jorath, I'm sorry to hear that! Hope you can get to a dentist as soon as possible!
In the meantime, you could try the following - if you happen to have whole cloves (you know, the spice) or maybe if you can borrow some from your neighbours, try putting a whole clove against or between the tooth. It's said to alleviate the pain.
Good luck!

A bit more then the recommended dose ain't bad ... prolonged exposure to moe then what is recommended will cause harm .. but if it is for a few days it is ok to take some more (if u have a normal metabolism ofocurse)... just limit it to about 1/3-1/2 more then normal!@

Also note that these medicine usually take some time before getting effective..

Another tip is to take an aspirin (or whatever you got, not too strong mind you) and let it dissolve where the pain is. This also works if you get stung by a wasp or anything else

My dad used to tell us to use a clove if we ever had to wait to get to a dentist but I've never tried it.

Salt will kill topical infections. Rinsing your mouth out with warm and very salty water (concentrate the swishing around the sore tooth) will kill the topical infection and alleviate the pain until you can get in to a dentist.

This is NOT A CURE for the toothache! It will make it stop hurting but the abcess can (and will) remain under the tooth and can (and will) get worse. Case in point; one of my lower wisdom teeth...it had room to come in from having my first molar pulled before it ever broke through but developed and abcess at the very rear where I apparently wasn't reaching it at gum level with my toothbrush.
I used salt water and the pain went away so I didn't go to the dentist for it and for about three years there was this cycle of toothache, salt water throughout the day, no more pain, forgetting about it.

Well when I went it to the dentist finally (separate problem with having had front teeth broken on the other side of my face in an auto accident) and the dentist pulled that wisdom tooth and found a large abcess that had been forcing itself backward into my gums that was headed toward my lower jaw...had it been let go any longer than it was, it could have actually cost me jaw bone from what he told me so do go see a dentist asap and I hope this helps you if you try it. Toothaches are the worst.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. but this day just gets better and better, after posting last message I laied down on my bed and just sort of passed out, probably from exhaustion because I had been awke for 34 hours. anyway after about 3 hours I wole up to the phone and it was a guy from work and asked me to come in because another guy is sick... well I didn't feel as much pain in the tooth and I need the extra money since I only work 8 hours a week on weekends I said I'd be there.

Well it wasn't so bad, except the guy, who by the by is in charge of the gasstation over the weekend was drunk... he smelled like a bathroom in a irish pub and was drinking coffee by the gallons...and even managed to spill some over himself (sic). these were loooong 6 hours...

Anyway I don't have any clove, but I just tried the salt water and it seems to be working.

Thanks again guys
