... in football (soccer to you Americans)

Here is the link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/2915451.stm

The final score: 9-3

This very human story gives me hope about what the US & UK are doing in Iraq.

Oh man that is a great story! I loved these lines:

"We turned up to play and there was no one around, just a few kids messing about," he said.

"Then suddenly, out of nowhere, came this kitted-up football team together with a referee and two linesmen.

"The boys thought they must be the Iraqi international side or something. In truth, they thrashed us."

All kitted up i could just picture it.. couple lads together to boot around a bit and this team with unis, refs and linesmen show up.. lets play! hahaha

This is the best news story for the last two weeks.. I wonder what bush, blair.howard thought of this...relief I guess would be an understatement. Wonder what Sadman thinks too

Maybe they should set up a coalition tv and beam this match live to all of Iraq. The best propaganda I can think of.

Also to give this match report correct bias, it should be pointed out that England are not to good at football these days

They might also have assumed it to be an order.

We are talking about people who have lived under a regime where 'unfriendly' behaviour has consequences.

True enough Skunk, but knowing how fanatic people all over the world are for Football, I doubt there was a knife at anyone's back.
