I've played through this game a number of times, and I have never heard mention of the royal treasury in the Duchal Palace before... so I was more than slightly suprised when I actually stumbled across one!
- 9500+ GP, 4 Diamonds, an enchanted shield and other goodies are there for the taking!!! Just polymorph/stun the guards to avoid rep loss and a have a couple of knock spells handy for the locks. Don't suppose anyone else knew about this? CLUE: Under the stairs  You'll know you have the right place because you get a special film showing you the treasure [img]smile.gif[/img]

That's in the downstairs. You don't really need to stun the guards (never used that before, didn't think of that). Stealth works fine, which is what I like to use. However, at this point...who cares about the gold?
 There's also a couple thousand gold throughout the place, along with a load of mage scrolls. Handy if you're missing some.

Lots of goodies. BG isn't even installed on my computer, otherwise I'd check for you. Lots of goodies, though. Gems, gold, and such.

There are only 2 guards. I used wands of sleep until they were all asleep (!) then plundered away.
From memory, there are a few diamonds, ruby rings, gold, 2 cursed scrolls...
