Because the chap you're trying to correct wasn't aware of this information at the time - it was after all posted in 2002!

However, yes, Fallout 3 in the hands of Bethesda is a very fascinating prospect. I only hope they retain some spiritual semblance to the original two games and perhaps even to BIS' Van Bulen project, as unlikely as that might be.

And just to make a little confession - I still haven't played Fallout 2 as yet. I only completed the first game earlier on this year and loved it very much. So it is definitely threads like this which will excite my enthusiasm alot more and put Fallout 2 higher up on the "To Play List".

Cheers,

lol i didnt notice thanks for pointing it out.

I never reallly got into this game strangely enough, as I really LOVED the BG series and IWD 2. Strange.

I also felt the turn based combat of the Fallout series was more tactical than the BG-style pausefests.
I think Fallout 1 feels a lot more thought-through and the time limit is only for the water chip and can be extended (spoil) by paying the water merchants

yeah, but there is a second time limit, to eradicate the super-mutants.

Extending the waterchip time limit by ordering the water shipment actually significantly reduces the second time limit, and is generally not advisable.

aww too bad.
i absolutely love the BG series and IWD, altho not so much IWD2.
but the FO series tops them out. i think the SPECIAL system is what makes it so outstanding. oh, and the world setting.
y'know, as much as i adore BG/IWD etc... i'm REALLY tired of DnD settings and rulesets. *contemplates* that's prolly the major reason i can replay FO, PST, Wizardry and MM series so often, while a second playthru of BG2 is still languishing on my computer.

Fallout 3 is already out its called fallout tactics, Its basically the same as fallout 1 and 2 but in realtime, no more turn based fighting
And more importantly, IT4S NOT AN RPG. Do not think it's one. Do not compare it with Fallout 1 and 2. It sucks mayor eggs. What you just said is borderline blasphomy
TAKE THAT BACK BASTARD! Fallout Tactics actually made the combat interesting. The turn-based hexagonal crap in Fallout 2 was so boring and long-winded.

No, i wont take it back. I can have my opinion just as you can. I respect yours but calling me a bastard is going a bit over the top. And i wasn't talking about the combat in that game just the fact that it isn't an RPG. You can like the combat in tactics if you want. We can debate it's merrits and it's flaws but i'm not inclined to do that right now.
Besides don't you think it is a bit odd to try and start a flame war over a post made some three years ago ?

It makes me want to play Wasteland again. Great game. I just started F2 using a brute because I have never done that before. I may have problems later I think. I hope F3 will have an option to be turned based or real time.
