go to one of the mode sites and download a shack and
use it to store your stuff until you can afford to
buy one in each town. That way you won't lose
anything.

Ya, that's what i was thinking. But i was wondering if there's a way of doing it without mods just yet.

Ayelid (sp?) ruins, or any other dungeon for that matter, repopulate after being cleared out. I'd use a dungeon as a home if it weren't for that. Anyone found any nice, habitable dungeons that don't repopulate yet?

*Edit: Or how about guildhalls or taverns? In Morrowind i often used those as temporary homes. If you belong to a faction, can you safely leave stuff at the faction buildings?

I used the crypt in Imperial City grave yard, and then the "abandoned" home in Elven Gardens District used by that skooma addict (whom you get to kill in one Dark Brotherhood mission).

Of course now I'm filthy rich bastard and use my Skingrad mansion.

I forget the name of it but there is a cave full of bandits just North of the imperial city. Once you clear that is has a bed, chests, etc. I used that as my hame as a poor adventurer until I could afford better.

Nope. Your loot will disappear over time if you try this tactic.

i got the bruma one. i like bruma the best. i think it and chorrol's are the best. skingrad's-biggest, but layout bad. 1st file-chorrol house
2nd-bruma house. oh, and yes, the guildhalls are homes if you are a member in them. but you must be in the guild to use them and the chest, cabnets, and other items in the guild halls.

there is houses for sale in each city and temprarely homes must be the factions you are a member in..

i am a member of every faction and also have 4 houses..anvil and skingrad has the best house/manor which i use alot. i also got a nice little shack in the imperial city, which you can buy for 2k at a office in the market district. and i also got this nice medium house in cheydinhal which i actually just bought for fun ..
and finally i got that little house in bravil, that one i use for storing my illegal stuff..

since i stored one example of every armor set and bows and longsword i have come across, i shouldn`t have any more space in those little chests and cabinets in my manor... seems like its infinite space in that little chest..
and still i am a LVL 25 bosmer/wood elf ,archer/thief/mage and got 98k and have not yet begun my main quest..

one tip:
go complete the quest for benirus manor in anvil!
5000 gold for the manor and you`ll get all the new furniture after you have completed the quest.. start it at the local tavern in anvil , and talk to Mr.Benirus.

now i`m writing to much non-interresting stuff...

For storage all you need is the Imperial City waterfront shack, which costs 2k + 7-800 for storage chests and cupboards. It's my short term storage place of choice (I keep long term trophies and alcoholic beverages in the Anvil Mansion). It has a fairly central location and doesnt take all that long to reach from the fast travel point.

AFAIK all you really need is one chest or cupboard, so there's little point in getting the bigger homes for anything but RP purposes. I for instance used to keep all alcohol I found in crates in the Anvil basement.
