Even though I thought I installed the patch I occasionally fall through a floor were no opening exist. Once in Fort Ebonheart I fell into the water and looked up and could see the entire Floor layout with people walking around. Somehow I managed to pop myself back up. Doesn't happen often and usually I only fall to the floor below.

Hmmm, which patch is it? It reminds me Daggerfall very strongly I haven't seen the effect in 1.02.0702

If the problem is caused by importing buggy code from Daggerfall then you must watch edges of any kind. You usually fell into the "void" in Daggerfall in the following cases:

(a) When you climbed a wall - you fell to the void when you reached the upper edge of the wall.
(b) When you jumped down carefully, especially with a slowfall and around an edge in the wall - the edge "caught" you and immobilized you. No chance for release.
(c) When you tried to jump through a "narrow profile" in a passage.
(d) When you swam (or flew) near a ceiling - the ceiling caught you as in the case of carefully jumping down.
(e) At certain known places, for example, there were two "black holes" in the small ship, which you must avoid when you moved through the ship. These places were fixed and "work" in every game run.

It happens to me as well, usually in Vivec, and I have the latest patch.

I found out that it happens when I jump and change cell at the same time, like when you go from one canton to another. If you're in midair after the brief loading period when changing cell ends, there's a risk of falling through the ground.

Ahh, I'm not the only one that experienced these kinds of falling through moments eh? Interesting.
I was patched to the max also.

Howver I think I had more trouble with getting stuck in walls (in Balmora specifically) and being able to see through them or above them when it happened.
It would most often happen when I was jumping or bumping into walls, either during combat or just from sheer spelunking about. I'd often just jump up onto tables and beds to get my acrobatics up faster. It happened in a couple of tombs also.

Sometimes I could get out, but every now and again I'd have to reload.

Dragon, there is a console command which can solve the problem. I cannot recall it just now but it is something like "fix me". When you get caught by a wall or a floor, open the console and try the command. It will "teleport" you a few steps away so that you occur "back in the game".

LOL

I used to quicksave and eat every possible mushroom substance in the hope that Bethesda would include an Ultima Underworld like homage by creating some neato psychedelic perceptal changes in your characters view. Unfortunately, I never found any matter which would grant me shamanic visions nor anything that would get me stuck in the walls, but oh well.

This was a common problem in daggerfall, as mentioned earlier.

I think I can explain as to why it always happens. The problem with falling through will always exist in ES games because of the way they design interior cells. If you ever looked the TES Construction Set and designed interiors, you will notice that everything is made piece by piece. And since there is no real definite way to connect each piece separately, there will obviously being holes in the floors in which a player could fall through. Thats the problem. It was the same thing in Daggerfall to because they had the same interior construction method. Piece by piece, which is why almost all dungeons look identical (rumor has it there are some 64 individual pieces for random dungeons in Daggerfall).

I think that is the answer.

Vivec is terrible for this, I find myself saving before every bridge I cross. Thank God I am now heading away from that city were the bridges give way.
