I am attempting to import my BG1 dude into BG2. After I import, it brings up the screen for portrait, class/kit, abilities scores, etc. It looks like the only things it imports are the race and alignment. Am i doing something wrong?

Race, alignment, and ability scores gets carryforward from BG1, you have to repick weapons due to a more complex system use in BG2 and you also get to pick specific kits for your class, since there were no kits in BG1.
