It sounds like a crazy question, doesn't it ?

Since I bought W8 I couldn't understand, why this spell exists.

I played a fighter party in the past and I could enter all caves without problems. No light needed. The only exception : the retros. They are playable without light but in areas with no torch you could easily miss a door.

My monitor settings are standard. I have not changed brightness or gamma. All other programms look normal.

Do you use the Light spell in W8 or is it useless for you, too ?

Other than as a way to practice fire magic I've found no need for it.

Monsters spot you easier if you use the light spell.

Ever played a priest?

Priest have the level 1 light spell, and then no other fire spell until lightning (which is a very good spell) at spell level 6. So without light, you couldn't even put points into the fire realm until level 14. Lightning would be quite useless then.

In addition, things look better IMHO with the light spell active. But without this spell, they could have made this look the default.

if you have a poor monitor like me, having light makes a lot of difference. but I also like to have my Lord and Valk cast it periodically so they can lightning bolt somebody when the time comes.

Actually, I believe Sirtech included the light spell because most Lizardmen are acute Nyctophobiacs. Lizardwomen, for some reason, usually aren't however.

Yes light spell has a minor usage.
If you play with a priest, lord or valkyarie light is the only fire realm spell they get until lightning....

You can practice casting light to stop your fire skill from dropping behind all the others.

Rarely played a priest. And one of the spells I believe I never used was lightning. Don't know why. I think there were so many effective spells later that I've forgotten that spell.

Does anyone else find it annoying that Psionics can cast hypnotic lure and not light?
