Casting Elementals

First of all, it is great to have this board back!!! Like everyone else, I was going through withdrawals. I can now sleep without nightmares and stop trying to check the web 50 times a day to see if the board is up yet.

I don't know how many of you ran into this problem with casting elementals, but it almost turned me off of them for good. Just about everywhere I went, I could not cast the spell. I always got the tone. It took me a while, but I finally realized that it was saying that there was no room for the largest elemental that you had spell points for. I found that if I chose a spell level first and then chose the spot for the elemental, I could usually get it to show up.

This was most helpful in the Rapax castle. My mage could cast a level 7 elemental, but it was too big to fit in the corridor so I kept getting the tone when trying to target the spell. I selected a level 5 first and then targeted the spell and it went through without a problem.

Did I say how good it was to be back?

Yup noticed that too.

I stopped even trying to summon Elemental Lords (power 7) anywhere but outdoors.

I think it is a little bit buggy though because the elementals rarely appear exactly on the spot they are summoned (if an opponent moves into that spot for example). They will appear anywhere they can on a "thrown" range, instead. But if there is a fixed obstacle on the same spot you won't be able to cast it.

Level 7?! Wow, I need to get cracking! Right now I can only cast level 2 elementals (and they are "minor" or "weak"). However I only just got the spell and two people have it, my alchemist and my bishop, so I can cast it twice in a battle. Very handy! I am casting just for the practice at nearly every battle, even when it's just 3 plants.

It is a terrific spell to have, since I find that the elementals draw a lot of fire, too and a quick heal will give them a lot of hitpoints back. I noticed that only rarely in an intersection could I cast this spell up on the Trynton tree walkways.

However it is just so cool watching a huge elemental just WHALE on monsters and I am able to cast range spells and weapons from a distance.

Here's my question about elementals. How come I can't summon the big ones with my mage because I get the :tone: but when I throw a canned elemental at the same place it will summon up and an Elemental Lord? It's just odd.

Because you have enough spell points to cast a level 7 Elemental. If you do not specify the power level before you target, it targets as if you were using all available spell points even if that power level is red. A canned elemental is a 6th level and is shorter/smaller than the 7th level. Try my tip of choosing the power level first and then see how often you get the :tone:.
